Real vs. Fake flowers- your opinions?

Recommended Posts

So far I have got my 3 bridesmaids bouquets done up at Michaels.. the resort was going to charge me 150 per bouquet for real calla lillies... so I found the ones I wanted at Michaeals and had their florist designer come up with the bouquets from pictures I left her and they turned out great! And only 30 dollars each! They were on a spring stem sale too which is why they were so cheap! 1/2 price! As for my bouquet, I am gonna splurge when I am at the resort and get mine the way I want it but in real flowers... so I am for both ways... cause at least I was able to save some cost on the flowers!!!

Bridal Blooms By Laura

We knew that our love for Cuba and the soft white sand was the only place on earth we would want to be to exchange our vows. As we began the planning process we learned that January is not only winter here in Canada, but also winter in Cuba. Although the Caribbean is known for their tropical flowers, we were concerned about selection. When the idea of fake flowers came up, we knew we didnâ€t want cheap plastic dollar store flowers. This is when we found Bridal Blooms by Laura.

Bridal Blooms by Laura was a dream to work with. The process of choosing flowers was fantastic, communications over the phone and through email were done, we knew that she shared the same vision for our wedding; Classic, tropical, bright and cheerful flowers. When the ‘Real Touch – Floramatique†floral arrangements arrived we were in complete awe. They looked, felt, and smelled real, absolutely amazing. They travelled perfectly, and we will enjoy them for years to come.

Thank you for the wonderful flowers,

Since I am having a religious ceremony in July here in Dallas and a destination wedding in Cabo in August. I couldn't justify buying 2 sets of flowers for the 2 ceremonies. Beyond that I was worried that I wouldn't be able to bring back my real bouquet from Mexico due to customs. After I read a lot of reviews on this forum I decided to use Plumeria. Roberta is really easy to work with and my flowers are supposed to be coming in today. I hope that when I get home from work they will be waiting for me. I'll post a review :)

Your flowers are beautiful? Who made them for you?

Real flowers are more money but you don't have to worry about traveling with them. However, what are the BM to do with them once its over? It's not like they can take them home - they'll end up MAYBE keeping them in their room for the duration of their stay then chucking them when they leave.

What are you guys doing and why?
So I guess it really depends on the person. I went with realtouch florals because I wanted to have an idea of what my flowers would look like and honestly, flowers can be the biggest waste of money at any event....they just die.

This way we can either sell the flowers or keep them, either way, its an investment that I can see, touch and feel for years to come!

I packed my floromatique flowers in my carry on with no cushioning at all and they stayed beautiful. I got them from Bittersweet Wedding Designs as well and they were a super good price - not even comparable to the $250 the resort was going to charge me for a real one that's not as full! - Everyone thought they were real.

I think they look pretty damn good after being packed in a carry on!

I bought fakes for my BMs from a fellow BDW bride on here but really wanted real flowers for myself. But things just keep adding up...my WC quoted me $250 for the bouquet I want (white flowers with just a few orchids) and FI almost dropped dead. So I ended up buying a real touch bouquet off ebay for $110. It was still expensive, but at least I don't have to leave it in Mexico (I couldn't stand the thought of leaving my flowers there to die!) At least this way, I can sell it when I get back maybe and get some money back for it.

My flowers came in yesterday and they look real enough to me. I'm super excited, because now I know exactly what my flowers will look like and don't have to worry about being surprised/disappointed if I got them in Mexico.

  • 1 month later...

We did fake flowers for my bouquet, my MOH's bouquet, the parents' bouts & corsages, and I split the real bridal bouquet (included in the hotel package) for my two bridesmaids. It worked out really well!

The fakes looked awesome in pictures! (and no sneezing from allergies!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
