Question about RIU Ocho Rios dress code

I was wondering if some RIU ocho rios brides could help answer a question for me. I have been emailing Chandlyn and of course, I'm not getting a response. Not surprising - haha!

 

Question: Can the groomsmen and my fiance wear their sandals to the reception dinner at Mammee Bay? I've read that they need to wear closed toe shoes, but they are wearing sandals for the wedding. Just wondering if they have to change shoes.

 

Chandlyn hasn't responded to my question regarding a rehearsal dinner either. Is this something she arranges once we arrive or can it be scheduled ahead of time? Where are they held?

Wow, that pretty much sounds like Chandlyn. She doesnt usually respond quickly to emails but once you're there you'll understand why. She does give each bride a lot of attention in person. As for the Sandals it should be a big deal because the section that you're in at the Mammee Bay is sectioned off and its your day, I doubt she will tell you anything different. The guys definitely will not have to wear close toes shoes for the dinner. Many of my guests had changed into shorts and flipflops for our dinner (for comfort for dancing on the beach) and there was no problem. The men in the bridal party wore flipflops and it was fine.

In terms of the dress code, as Maureen said, Sir Richard, Sir John and Tushima were the only places where it seemed enforced. My brother and my husband wore sandals and shorts to all other restaurants, and we ate at each one several times.

 

I would STRONGLY advise to book your rehersal dinner before you go! We hadn't planned on having one, and when we met with Chandlyn we had changed our minds. She told me that a rehersal dinner was not really an option, and that the best she could do was to see if they could get us a big table put together at the regular buffet. So three of my guests got up early and each made a reservation for ten at the Mammee Bay. It was fine, but the downside was that we had the same menu the night of the wedding at the Plantation. It seems like other people have been able to book rehersal dinners though...I don't know why I wasn't able to.

I tried to book a welcome/rehearsal dinner before we travel and Chandlyn said this was not possible in advance and I must reserve once in the resort. So I will no doubt have to bribe someone once there to sort this out.

Mine husband and best man had sandals on as well. No problem!

If you want a rehersal dinner, I would suggest either doing via email or go to her office when you first arrive and have it arranged. She is a busy lady though so trying to catch her might be a challenge. Maybe have your meeting set up right as soon as you arrive.

I am wearing sandals as well. My fiance and basically our whole wedding party is wearing sandals and I don't think its a problem at all. My fiance has been emailing Chandlyn and we haven't asked her about a rehearsal dinner but we are doing a welcome dinner which she said that would or could be held at St. Ann's which is a buffet. She said that's were they usually have all the welcome dinners. I'm guessing that the rehearsal would be the same. I have 60 guests so it will be very hard for us to book dinners, but I don't plan to have dinner with 60 people every night. I did want to ask if anyone knows if having an arch is extra price instead of doing it at the gazebo. I think both look beautiful but anyone have any suggestions or opinions We are having our reception dinner at the steak house and than we are renting the poolside reception area for dancing. I would love to hear any comments!! Thanks!!!
