Hi there!!

I'm La, and together with my man, we are LaBre. I've been checking around this site, delighted to see all of the valuable information out there from experienced destination brides.

We are getting married at the Riu Jalisco in Nuevo Vallarta at the end of November, beginning of December. I read a few of the messages from other brides who got, or are getting married there, but I look forward to exploring further.

We JUST launched our website today, labrelife.com and sent out a mass e-mail informing people about it. Our travel agent (and good friend) followed with an e-mail including the travel information (which we also included on our website). We were told people have 2 weeks, until 16Apr09 to decide and send in their deposits. Upon reading other messages on here, it sounds like other people have been getting much longer lead time? Apparently, exact dates of travel for different cities won't be available until August. (when the charter companies have their schedules out) Is that a common experience for you destination brides and grooms?

I also have a few questions regarding std's and invitations. We sent out an e-mail, but there are a few people who don't use the internet. As we're told we have just over 2 weeks for people to get deposits in (at the price being quoted) what is the general method of reaching those few not-computer folks out there?

The timeline for std's? Invitations? Can, or should they be all in one? What about when the exact date of the wedding isn't known?

Oh my gosh. So many questions! So much to do!!

I'm really looking forward to conversing further with you all and picking your knowledgeable brains.....

Thanks so much!!!

Welcome to the board. I also recommend checking out The Knots destination wedding board. There's some great advice on there as well. Im a Puerto Vallarta bride as well. We're sending out STDs about 1 year in advance. We plan to include all the information that we can, so it will be more than just a postcard. We'll follow up with email and another invite.

Welcome! Believe me, the girls who also read The Knot boards post all the good stuff on here as well! You will find so much on here.

As far as STD and invites. personally i think i would wait until you have a date, that way people can really STD! I think a timeline really depends on when you decide on your date etc. Some girls have done both, and some have put them together.

Good job on the website! I am such a slacker and really need to do ours!

I think if you really want to do everything electonically thru email that's great! But I totally understand if you have people who aren't into email, etc. I say send everything in email to those that use it, but the ones who don't send them an actual invite!

hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
