Honeymoon in Egypt...welcome input

My FI and I have decided to honeymoon in Egypt. We are thinking of going for two weeks in October. We are getting married in June with an AHR in July, so I wanted a break before the honeymoon.

We picked Egypt after I talked with a friend who spent a year and a half traveling the world. I had a few criteria - something totally unique/different, something I would want to do while I was still young, and a place that would offer some incredible diving.

So we picked the location, and I know we are going to spend a week near the Red Sea to do the diving thing, but if anyone has been to Egypt, I would welcome any and all suggestions on what else we should do.

My friends went to Egypt for their honeymoon too. They enjoyed the vacation, but I was told that people should be careful. Everyone, especially women, should not venture out without a guide. A lady from their tour group who is a seasoned traveler almost got kidnapped by a stranger when she was walking by her self.

I've been twice and i love it love it love it lol I've toured quite a bit of the country 2 mostly with a backpack, i'm blonde and i didn't get kidnapped lol I got chatted up a lot and they do grab you by the arm and try and get you into their shops which can get right on your nerves but its sooo worth it lol

If you do the red sea thats all thats there and it costs you a fortune to travel to all the tourist bits.

Cairo is ok but be warned its minging, Luxor is amazing but my favourite place was Aswan, its really laid back and everyone is really friendly.

If you want to ask me anything pm me

Ya we went and we're not guide people and we did fine. I mean i wasn't wondering around by myself or anything.

now I'll reiterate we're are not touristy guided people. we are actually now planning our trip to africa next summer and will be camping from cape town to cairo. i do recommend doing a cruise tour down the nile. very fun and very exciting. we really liked it and plan on doing it again next summer

if you had more time i would really recommend going up to turkey. its beautiful nothing like it there is great diving there as well. and the food is to die for!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
