For a DW is it mandatory to do the traditional Bouquet & Garter toss?

We wouldn't do this even if it was a local wedding...most of our friends/family are married or in a long-term relationship. Plus, I used to hide during this particular tradition...even when I was the MOH...so it probably wouldn't be fair if I did it to my friends/family.

I think for a DW, nothing is mandatory, and you can do whatever you want. I mean, it is your wedding. If you want it though, I say go for it. I think it's fun, but more so if you have a lot of people there to get involved with it.

I would agree... nothing is mandatory... it's your wedding do it your way!

A friend of our started a tradition... instead of throwing the bouquet she past it to the next lady getting married. She past it to my best friend and she past it to me... they always say a nice little toast too. In both weddings, the boys threw the garter (because they're boys and like to)... since all the other guys new we were getting married, they stood there with their hands in their pockets. My FI caught it and did a little slide.. gotta love it! It did make it to their wedding video and looks really cute.

I agree when it comes to a DW nothing is mandatory except the vows, i do's, and kiss the bride. We are doing the bouquet and garter toss at our AHR. Just for fun. But it isn't mandatory.

It's YOUR wedding day... Your turn to be queen for the day! So nothing is ever mandatory. Making things unique to you and your fiance's tastes and personalities is all part of the fun. :)

Side question: Did you ladies wear a garter? I'm not sure if I'm doing the toss yet, but I didn't know if you still wore a garter to your DW...
