Wow. So far I have been able to stick with the Dreams of Love Package and my new sister-in-law has her own photography business so she is taking our photos for free ( that saved me a bundle...) I think we will be 8000-9000 when said and done with our room included. I'm still trying to decide on the entertainment.
Does anyone know what type of cakes the resort does and/or have any pictures?

Yikes... well they dont look to promising. My mom was really worried when I said they use flowers to decorate. She use to work for a florist and said that using real flowers is the easiest way to get someone sick. She told me if I wanted flowers that we would take fake ones that we can wash before sticking them on the cake...Are you worried about taking the cake decorations through customs? And what kind of decorations were you thinking if you dont me asking...

yes I am a little worried. I think I might got to michaels and pick up some fake flowers. my cousin is a pastry backer and she said she will make the decor and she will bring it. I guess I just like to have a plan A, and B.
Also when i went to a wedding in punta cana last year no one looked at the cake lol. so i need to keep this in mind!
what are you doing about invites?

I made my own pocket invitations from cards and pockets. I am taking them to be printed on Friday and then sending them out. We did not send out save-the-dates because all our close family and friends already know. I hope to send invitations by July 1, giving our guests a little over 10 months. You?

@strwbsprkl How come you're paying $900 for the resort DJ? I was under the impression his services were $350 for 4 hours and an additional $125 per hour..how long are u booking him for? Are you renting anything additional? I am renting him from 6-10pm along with parquet flooring since I am having the reception on the beach. I don't know which size flooring I'm getting because that will depend on the number of guests but that will be anywhere from $350-$450. After 10pm I am planning on taking my guests to the hotel's disco. @Mandiesue maybe that can be an option for you to entertain your guests. My friend got married there three years ago and that's what she did and they had a blast. As far as decorations and cake, I am hiring an outside vendor to take care of this for me. So if I dont have much cake or decorations advice that's why.

DJ Service with MC, Speakers, Special lightning (4 hours service)$900 (additional charges apply for extra hours)Additional fee applies for extra hoursI am doing this package, I think we will need the mc and the special lights seem cool. I wish i could skip the music trio from cocktail hour and out the money towards the dj. I wonder if they would let me do that. the disco seems like the plan after the reception lol. my family are partiers and they would probably head over there! did your friend have the mc by any chance? maybe I dont need all this fancy dancy stuff lol
Honestly my friend had her uncle DJ the whole thing. She didnt have an MC or lights - I won't either. My package includes the trio as well and honestly from the posts I've seen guests really enjoy them. I'm actually looking forward to it, but if they do a sucky job i can let you know ahead of time since my wedding is a few months before yours. As far as swapping services from the package and out the money towards something else I'm not sure if they let people do that. All of the documentation I've received says you cant, but who's to say you can't ask maybe they'll make an exception for you. As far as hair and makeup I've heard they do let you give those to your mom etc if you prefer to do your hair and make up yourself.
