Dana, can you please take a picture of the inside of the Seaside Grill? I want to know what it looks like in case we need to go inside for dancing or the rain.  Also, can you please take a picture of your food and give a review of how it tastes?  I'm so concerned that the food will be disgusting and the BBQ chicken will look like we're at a picnic.  :-(.

Congrats Dana on your upcoming nuptials.  We have traveled this journey together and I'm happy to see yours come to a wonderful ending and the beginning of your new life with your husband.

Nemo- Look in my default album, I uploaded any pics sent to me (Cake, Flowers, etc)

Dreamsbride: I know the SSG isn't being used anymore because I had to "fight' for it, they honored it because I had a quote from June of last year. It doesn't mean that they won't do another a la carte, and they still offer DJ service, I would ask what their alternative to that option is

Mrs 'Willams: wow, two weeks from today I will be married and essentially getting kicked out of the SSG Lol. thanks for the email btw!

this is the only pic i have on file that Tiara sent, but will have loads of pics because that is where my reception is.

now back to losing my mind trying to figure out if I forgot something!

xoxo Dana

Dana,

Thanks for your response and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  I hope they let me do a private reception at an a la carte place and bring my own ipod.

Has anyone else thought about doing the same?

Katie

Thanks Dana.  The inside doesn't look so bad but the outside is definitely prettier.

Does anyone know where I can find some inexpensive battery operated votive candles?  Also, what size paper lanterns should I be getting to decorate the gazebo and how do I hang them at the Seaside Grill?

I bought paper lanterns for the gazebo only and got 14" 16" 20" (Pink, White and Aqua) We ordered them off of ebay. We also bought at one point battery operated votives off of ebay as well.

For the ipod, lots of brides brought their own dock and did it. To rent speakers its the same as having a DJ 250$ (unless prices have changed) Some brides invested in a really good Bose station instead. Others rented speakers for the week at a low cost (i remember it was under 20$) Regardless i'm sure you will figure it out. I just got the DJ and am bringing a full iphone...

I'm very upset, i ordered custom glasses and the artist didn't send them to the right address so they are being returned... and I won't have them for my wedding :(  Sigh... hope this is the only thing that goes wrong ;(

Ladies I am afraid I have some bad news.  I am thinking of canceling the wedding at DLR and having it in New York due to the fact that it will cost people more than 1000 to go to DR and since almost all of them live here I don't want it to be a burden.  I know that my family does not have tons of money and neither does my FI so we are strongly considering just doing it in NY which was our original plan.  I will keep you all posted...I am very sad but I don't want to want it to be a burden for people if they can't afford it especially my immediate family.

Dana - sorry to hear about your glasses - maybe they can be sent afterwards as "thank you for coming" gifts??  Or are you cancelling the order altogether?  Either way, sounds like everything else is going to be great and I'm sure everything will work out and go according to plan!

Dreams Bride - Sorry, I should have specified that I did ask about reserving the SSG so it's possible they will do it at other a la cartes.  And about the music part - She said that as long as you have a private reception you can have music so I assume that means you would either have one of the menus, private buffet menus, or reserve a whole restaurant but I don't know so I am clarifying with her - I will let you know when I hear back!

Noemi - sorry to hear that you may be cancelling DLR!  I'm sure New York will be awesome as well if that's what you guys decide to do.

Dana have you left yet??  If not, I am wondering if you could bring us back your opinion on something?  I have heard a lot lately about there being timeshare people all over Dreams that are trying to sell you a timeshare type of thing and that they are pretty harrassing to some people.  I am wondering if you can let us know if you experience this, because I know how sometimes people can exaggerate so much!  Some of the people who were complaining about this were also complaining that some of the staff didn't speak very good English (HELLO, you are in a Spanish speaking country, what did you expect! haha) so I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but thought I would get your opinion once you get back!

Hi there, NOPE... ACTUALLY IN ONE WEEK EXACTLY I WILL HAVE LANDED and am hopefully on the bus heading towards DLR.

I've heard about the time share people as well, and i'm leary about it, but also I can say no very firmly if so.

I've got my guard up going on this trip, I just hope hope hope hope, its everything that I imagined it would be. I haven't mentioned to anyone who's coming about the Hdc and other issues that put me in a state of doubt about how this will all be. I'm bringing 47 people and they all paid alot of money to be at this resort. I don't want them to fret over it either.

I will absolutely be giving a very detailed review when i'm back. Also, for business reasons.. I will have my laptop to check in. I'm not promising to log on, but if I do... I'll give you guys the play by play. I have three brides who are waiting for my opinion before they book at the DLR, and a couple of others who are on the fence as well...

Just can't wait to get this show on the road!!! 7 days!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
