Uh oh, no dancing at the SSG? I don't know why, I just assumed there was... I wonder if you're renting out the entire space, is there enough room to have some of the tables removed and make room for a dancefloor?

Could you check into that when you go Nadia? Maybe take some pictures so we can see how big it is? Thanks!

Eeee, I'm so excited for you to go and report back with all your findings!! heehee I feel like I'm going or something!

I'm pretty sure they are talking about doing a semi-private at the SSG and you cant have music or dancing but if your renting it out i am sure you can have both.

Yes, I'm not renting out the space. Just getting the meals there. Now I'm wondering if we can just have dancing on the beach just by bringing our own music or even just renting their speakers. I only have about 30 people coming (I think) so it doesn't need to be fancy. Just a few dances and then we can head to the disco.

Hmmm...I booked the SSG Deck for our reception. Tiara knows that we are not renting out the entire restaurant (as of yet) AND she talked to Carlos from DJ Mannia and confirmed there was enough room for dinner and dancing along w/ his DJ equipment. If someone has a specific response that says, "no music at the SSG deck" please post so that I can address this w/ Tiara asap. Thanks!!

p.s. - Amy / Nadia - i've already asked Valerie to look into the size of the SSG deck and take some pics, but if she doesn't get my message before she leaves in Dec., then I second that request from Amy. :)

We could keep the chairs there from the ceremony maybe.
Hi ladies:

Absolutely! I will ask Tiara about dancing at the SSG and if renting the entire restaurant or just part of it affects your ability to to have music and dancing on the deck.

I will also ask about the Ipod hook up and dance floor - but be careful, the dancefloor leaves much to be desired! (When I attended my friend's wedding at Dreams Palm Beach in Sept/09 - their dancefloor was sooo tiny I don't think it held more than 12 people comfortably!

I will be taking my camera and measuring tape so hopefully I'll be able to get exact dimensions!

Wow!! Now that's an interesting perdicament! You're only doing a partial area but if she's spoken to Carlos already it would appear to me that music & dancing is a non-issue?! But I agree we NEED clarification!

I know i asked her about having a bonfire on the beach back in March and i believe she said no, but it cant hurt to re-ask as their policies could of changed and maybe do that and bring down some music. there might be a certain time music would have to be off by.

Why does this all have to be so confusing, dont know if you saw this link but go to page 11 and it better spells out the reception options.

I haven't even seen this brochure before.

... And it gets more confusing. I thought it was approx $11 US per person to eat what was on the menu. According to this brochure, it's $20 US plus taxes & gratuity. And what happens if you have over 20 people at the SSG?

Nadia, thank God you're going down to speak to Tiara. One more thing. Maybe once you've spoken to her, you can get her to write everything down that you've discussed so it doesn't change once we get there.

The only plus is that i believe you only have to pay the $20 for guests 13-20 and not the first 12. I found this on the dreams tulum thread on hope it is the same case.

I didn't know you could rent only part of the SSG. Do you pay a flat rate or the per person rate for that? The deck, if it is the same area as when I was there 9 years ago, was quite large. Perfect size for what I am looking for with 30 people. It is hard to say because the resort has changed so much since it went from Casa Del Mar to Dreams.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
