Jennifer thanks for the clarification. I can't imagine how long it would take to get all of this information from Tiara since she is so very busy these days.

Bridget - check out this thread regarding music/song organization

Hey DLR Brides-to-be!

Things have been pretty quiet on this thread for the last few days, I hope that everyone is doing well.

I have good news! I have finally settled/confirmed "the" date...September 3, 2010 YEA!!!woot.gif I have also confirmed HDC photography, Pastor Rick York to do the ceremony and I plan to rent out the Seaside Grill for the reception. Tiara says that the SSG holds 245 people and you can have it from 6:30-11pm. I figure that's more than enough time and if anybody still wants to party after that they can go to the disco!

If anybody has more information regarding the SSG (menus, decor, place settings) please feel free to share.

Thanks!smile03.gif

I got an email today from Tiara - I had asked if she could put me in touch with someone from the hair salon so that I could see examples of their work and she sent me the email for the spa at DLR.

I had also asked her about hanging the paper laterns and she said yes it's possible but she's sure I'll love the SSG just as it is!

Hmmm...I'm still thinking laterns though... I'll love it extra then! cheesy.gif

Please post whatever you find out about the salon. I remember reading on the Dreams forum that people thought their hair/makeup turned out ok, but not what they were used to. I want to look like myself, but a better version, so the hair/makeup from the salon is my first choice but it's making me a bit anxious.

As for DJ info, the DJ's name is Carlos Martínez
Mannia Punta Cana
MANNIA - Audio, Video e Iluminación Profesional
They originally quoted me at $950 which includes:
Sound system
Professional Dj
Dj booth
Wireless microphone
Lighting
4 Hour service

They also provide cermony setup for $200usd which includes:
Speakers
Wireless microphone
Cd player
Operator

Again, I know it's expensive but other messages on this forum said this company is GREAT! They are very responsive to my emails. The guy, Carlos, is really nice. As of now, they have never done a wedding at DLR but he called Tiara for me to make sure that there was plenty of room to set up his equipment and everything at the SSG desk, so that gave me piece of mind. Please tell him Bridget (the March bride) referred you b/c I want him to know how much I appreciate him calming my nerves about the music.
Hope this helps!

Hello Ladies,

I am sooo stressed. I have been reading all your comments and it seems like everyone is getting responses from Tiara. I received my last email from Tiara on Nov 4 saying that my deposit went through and she would send my written confirmation that day. It is now Dec 4, I have sent her at least 5 emails since requesting my written confirmation. I am totally wondering if I am even booked for the date I requested with my deposit.

I even cc'd her assistant.

I guess I am going to have to call. I don't know what else to do. Any ideashuh.gif Am I stressing over nothinghuh.gif I know she takes forever but this is ridiculous. Liane

Did you try putting 'URGENT, RESPONSE REQUIRED' in the subject line? When I did that, I got responses pretty quickly from her.

Tiara has an assistant?? You'd think you'd get faster responses...

I received a response from the spa today about the hair salon.

Here is the spa manager's response:

We do not have pictures available at this moment but you can bring yours and we will arrange a trial before the wedding to make sure your hair will be perfect on your wedding day.

That's good to hear that they will do a trial for our hair.. although not exactly what I want to do while everyone else is laying in the sun!

Liane - I was also waiting for a reply from Tiara since November 6th on whether or not we could switch the time of our wedding to have it at 4pm instead of 5 pm. After about two weeks I emailed her again and then finally heard back from her on Thursday that "she just contacted the judge and 4pm will be fine," so I know things can be very slow there. When we were originally booking our trip, our travel agent had to change our flight dates which changed the day of our wedding, so I called her and she was able to tell me right over the phone that the new date was fine. If you call her then you will probably get an answer quicker!

Can I ask why you asked for 4pm? We have ours for may 4th at 5pm becuase we only have 3 hrs with the photogrpaher and the sun sets at 7pm so we thought 5 was better.... But are wondering if maybe 4:30 would be better.... Not sure if thats even an option though....

We wanted 4:00 for two reasons. The main reason was because we want to have lots of time after the ceremony for pictures before the sunsets. Tiara said that the sun sets at around 6:20 at that time of year (April 21) although many websites say 7:00 so I think she may be mistaken. The second reason is that I don't want to see my fiance on our wedding day until the ceremony and I don't want to wait until 5:00pm to get things started! I know that it's only an hour but I want to be able to celebrate for as long as possible and spend as much time with him as possible on that day!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
