Does anyone know if we can hang those paper lanterns at the Seaside Grill? I love the idea of colourful lanterns hanging from the ceiling, but I can't get Tiara to respond!

I think I'm going to do the Mamajuana favours as well. I'm thinking of buying little bottles here, making little stickers with our monogram on it (probably VistaPrint), attaching a little tag with the origin of Mamajuana (and maybe the saying, which is a little risque - 'If Mama wanna, Papa can', since it's known as liquid viagra) and then buying the big bottle when we get there and pouring it in to the little bottles *note to self, bring small funnel!

Does anyone know if the witnesses for the legal ceremony can be apart of the wedding party? When I asked Tiara, she just responded by saying that "the witnesses don't have to be part of the wedding party".

I understand from this that the witnesses can be part of the wedding party, I just want to be sure.

Thanks!

I think this might have been posted somewhere here already. Since the Ultimate Wedding Package is for 20 guests and then we have to pay for any extras anyway, we are waiting to see how many people come and then might rent out a restaurant if it isn't too much more than just paying for the extra guests. So far we have 31.

We are getting married April 21, 2010 so everything is booked.. just waiting to go now! Can't wait!
Yes I did see that option but I don't think we'll have many more people coming than 20 and I can't really afford to spend £1000 out on renting a restaurant when a meal for 20 is included in the package. I might request for a different menu, even just plain chicken or something to make sure that everyone can eat something and just hope that it doesn't cost much more or that she can just adjust the menu for us...
I bet your so excited!!! Not long to go now... I've got over a year to wait, which means I've got over a year to worry lol! Can't wait to hear about how it goes!!! cheesy.gif

The price for renting a restaurant is $1000 US plus tax and gratuity which is 10% and 16% coming out to $1260.00. I had sent an email to a girl on Trip Advisor who had a review on it and asked if she thought it was worth it. She said that it was great and that with the number of guests she had it ended up costing them less than one of the meals would have. I am assuming she had gone with the free wedding package.

Love those coasters hjack and the mamajuana idea Amy. Still don't know for sure what we're going to do!

The seaside grill was where and I watched a wedding take place. It was really beautiful but casual. What is your wedding date? Mine is May 3. I was wondering if it is in the same week?
I was reading the information from the resort last night and it is saying only up to 20 guests can eat at any of the restaurants except the World cafe, where it can be more. I have 30 people coming, but don't want to have it at the world cafe.

I was thinking of doing the dinner beside the pool but I can't find a price on this. I hope I am not the only confused bride.

Also thinking I might bring an Ipod dock for the first dance... by the pool and then go to the disco for the dance part of the reception. What are you doing for the reception? I read about getting a DJ and a dance floor.

Good luck with your planning. Keep posting!!
About the reception/dance floor/DJ question - here's what I've found out so far. The DJ that is hired through the resort is pretty terrible (BIG cultural differences in music choices) and the disco has received mixed reviews for the same reasons. Also, one bride on a travelocity review said that the "dance floor" was just a piece of painted plywood. SO - since music/dancing is so important to my fiance and I, we are hiring a DJ to do the ceremony music and then the reception music. We'll probably do the music trio for the cocktail hour. As for dancing, Tiara said a dance floor is not need on the Sea Side Grill Deck. I found the DJ through this forum and he has been very helpful so far. It's DJ Mannia. He is pretty pricey but could be well worth it based on all the info above.
Hope this is helpful!!

Hey Amygirl!!
I'm new to posting on this forum but I've been reading the DLR post for a while. I LOVE the idea for the lanterns. I have similar desire to hang those lanterns. Are you renting out the entire restaurant? Right now I'm just going for the deck area and have asked Tiara what kind of decor she would recommend for the dance area, and she just said, "brides don't decorate"!!?? Booo!!sad.gif so, please let me know what you find out about those lanterns!?
Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the responses regarding the renting of the restaurant. I think that is the option I will go with if I get the numbers expected (60 ppl). But is the $1000 in addition to the $30-$35 pp?

hjack - I LOVE those coasters!!woot.gif You totally have to use them! To answer your question re:witnesses, your witnesses CAN be a part of the wedding party but they CANNOT be related to you.

lizzyjayne - thanks for the warning. I was totally bummed today when Tiara sent an e-mail saying my top 2 dates were not available. I was going to have my fiance give her a call to "negotiate" but I think I'll just have to suck it up and try and reschedule everybody else ( HDC, Pastor Rick, flight schedules etc)censored.gif

Thanks again!

Hey Bridget, I'm considering an outside DJ as well, would you be able to post/tell me the prices he quoted you?
Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
