Dreams La Romana

I asked Tiara at one point if there will be another wedding on the same day as ours and she said yes. I had also requested for our wedding to be at 4:00 pm and when we got our confirmation back it was for 5:00 pm. I am now waiting to hear back from her on whether it can be any earlier. She said that in April the sun sets at around 6:20 so there will be lots of time for pictures and she thinks 5:00 will be fine. I didn't think that sun would set until around 7 and was thinking that would be pushing it so she said she will check with the judge at let me know if we can make it earlier.

We are having about 31 people coming and have booked the Dreams Ultimate Wedding Package. We're quite happy with this package since it includes the reception dinner (for 20 people) photography, videography, hair, makeup, reception, flowers, some decorations, etc. We will have to pay extra for any guests over 20 people for the dinner, or if too many more people come, we may just rent out one of the restaurants.

Can't wait to go! Less than 5 months till we leave now!!!!!!!!!!!!

i vaguely remmebered when i last logged in (maybe a month ago) that there was an alternative photographer who can do the pics for a lower price but i can not seem to find it as i sieve through these forum pages now. anyone remember who they are? i am bringing my own decor as they do not have the colour that i wanted (sapphire blue-fussy me!). i will be hiring the chairs from them though and i was wondering if the prices shown are hire prices just for the ceremony or reception or for the whole day, i.e. if i have 20 guests, will i need to hire 20 chairs for the ceremony and 20 chairs for the reception or just 20 chairs for the whole day?

I might attempt to do my own hair as well.

I'm getting married at 5 but haven't asked about other weddings that day.

I'm still waiting for her to confirm that everything's ok with my credit card. Tiara sent me an email earlier in the week saying that she was processing my card and would let me know once it was processed.... Not sure why it's taken so long.

I'll wait for that to be worked out before I ask the rest of the questions.

Also we are getting married at 5pm and the good thing about that is, it is the last wedding of the day so no rushing, the pictures will be at sun set and during the day light and they beach will be cleared for the most part (people will be done for the day and they wont be in your pictures or gathering around your wedding spot). I think 5pm is the better time....and it will be a little cooler as well.

Just to give you the heads up Sun and Sand, It took Tiara approx 3 weeks for her to process my card and get back to me. Once she did, She sent me an email saying it was processed and will send me written confirmation. I am still waiting on that. I am assuming this will come in the mail and not via email. That was approx 2 weeks ago. I am just hoping that we actually got the wedding date we requested.

So frustrating but will be worth it : ) Liane

Hi Ladies,

I am trying to figure out reception at Dreams La Romana. I am thinking Seaside Grill. I am booked with the free package but then the extras are crazy. I am not sure how this works. I was reading some comments about it being 1000.00 to rent the grill for the private reception. I have about 30people coming and seems a little extreme to book the entire restaurant for only 30 people. What do you think?

I have been to this resort before and watched a wedding take place on the pier. It was beautiful. They only had about 20 people and they only had one table at the seaside grill. I am sooo confused and trying to get info out of Tiara is a joke. Please send any advice.

Another tid bit I have found out is that weddings on the beach can be windy with sand blowing in faces. Also, I noticed in pics on the beach, everyone was squinting, bride and groom especially because you really don't want to wear sunglasses at your wedding. I think I am choosing the gazebo or the pier for those reasons.

So hard dealing with 'island time'!
Amy, I will be arriving at DLR on your wedding day. I have been reading back trying to get any helpful information. It seems that a lot of couples are doing a symbolic wedding. I think I might do that too. All the translating of paperwork seems way too much of a hassel.

I am still in the early planning stage. I have one advantage, I have stayed at this resort before and I am bringing my own photographer with me, so at least that is one expense I don't have to deal with. For me it is the chairs, decorations, and reception.
I will pass on any information I find out and please keep posting, your posts have been very helpful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
