FYI for any one else planning their wedding on Sat, arriving on Wed is ok. Tiara confirmed so I can finally book the rooms!

Also putting URGENT in the subject of the email helps when you really need something important answered fast, first email no response, waited a week and put URGENT in the title and got a response in 24 hours

Hey Amygirl, I have the menu and will email to you.

My date is early July. I am waiting before I actually book because a few TAs have told me prices will drop a bit. I will probably book in October.

A rep at Flight Centre said I should be good to book as late as January so that gives my guests some time. They have DLR on their roster too. So it looks like I have some choices. (I think).

I am also looking to find a TA that does deals for groups (every 10th person free, etc.) Fingers are crossed.

 

Next I wanna look for a photog. I'm not too keen on the resort photographer so I may hire the people from Photo Souvenir in Punta Cana. They have said it will cost an extra $200 to drive to DLR but it is worth it because their photos are great.

Our special 'deal' was every 12th person goes free so, so far FI and I are going free!

 

Have you seen any samples of the resort photog's work? I'm really hoping some of our photog friends/family can make it to the wedding and will be able to be our photographer...

If we have another group booking of 12 people, I may try to use our bonus trip to pay for photographer to come with us.

 

I wish there were more DLR brides out there that could give us some advice on the place!!

That's a pretty good price from TO! I've also been looking for prices from TO for some guests.

Hey girls, I was going to email Tiara soon but in case anyone knows...

 

Do you know how far in advance Tiara needs to know concrete numbers of guests for dinner and the ceremony etc? I told her about 16 preliminary but it's looking like it might be more! I also want to give my guests an RSVP date so that I can pass that number onto Tiara.

 

Dolphinluck: You mentioned finally being able to book your rooms now. Do you mean we choose our rooms or book them with Tiara? Or are you just talking about booking the vacation packages (travel and hotel)?

I meant book the travel package, well just hotel for right now, waiting for the airfare to drop some more. I spoke to my TA yesterday and she said she will go over ppl room locations request with me when we get closer, so i would contact your TA not Tiara for that.

I want to use photosouvenir from Punta Cana. Punta Cana Destination wedding photography. He said he will charge an extra $200 to come to DLR but his photos are worth it I think.

 

Plus, as a gift to my guests, I might set up a photo for each family / couple with the photog. If they all come at the same time, it won't take long and they'll get a beautiful gift that they'll actually keep. Also, I might have to do the TTD session the morning of the wedding because I can't have him come 2 days in a row and pay $200 on each day. A little less convenient but the photos are great.

 

Nicole, I'm hoping the whole Sunwing threat from the snarky TA was just her trying to justify why she couldn't match any prices I got online.

You might want to check out some local photographers by you, I am flying down two local photographers and getting full day cover plus TTD. It might be cheaper in the end, it was for me.
