Some people did get upset stomachs bc of the difference in the food, but they just took immodium and were fine (its like going to any other strange place - your body isn't used to it!) No one got food poisoning!!

Thank you for the response and reassurance. I feel at ease now. Wow 160 people. I just got a quote back for 90 wedding guest and...lets just say I'm trying to cut back on somethings  undecided.gif. Where was the reception held?  At the buffet stance were there helpers (waiters, service etc) I noticed the taxes states it includes service.

I must say being on this site has helped in abundance in decision making as I'm sure most brides on here feel the same way. I am thinking of bringing my own decor (such as centerpieces and etc.) for cost effective purpose. Has anyone brought their own centerpieces and decor for a large group? if so, was it a hassle at the airport or given a hard time through customs?

Thank you brides in advance!!

I kind of agree with you, Jessica. I don't know if I had the same exact calculations, but I just know that when I did an item by item comparison on my spread sheet the costs were almost identical between the free wedding and the other packages for what I want in my wedding. It seems to basically boil down to whether or not you appreciate the extra perks listed in the packages. If you don't care for them, then I suggest going with the free package. But if you do like them, you're not losing to go with the paid-for packages either! It really boils down to what you want. I want to take advantage of the extra hotel money from 3G promotion so the only way I can qualify for the free package is to book an ocean front suite for 7 nights. That will cost me an extra $1,000 than I am spending right now on my hotel. Plus, I don't want to spend $2,000-$4,000 on an outside photographer/videographer. So I would personally prefer to pay the extra for the ultimate package and use the photography services included therein (the value is about $600).

So my advice to your brides is to do your homework; crunch your numbers. There is no black and white answer to what is more or less expensive. You have to figure out what is valuable to you!

Good luck planning ladies!

Just wondering what the food options were or what was served for the buffet?

Hi all!

I'm getting married at DLR May 11, 2013! We just came back from a visit at the resort and it was beautiful!

I had my hair and make-up trial done while I was there. My hair came out great but my make-up was not so great :(

Has anyone used or can any brides suggest a good  make-up artist in the DR, preferabley La Romana?

I want my make-up to look fantastic and stay on all night!

Thanks, really appreciate any help!

I don't know about makeup artists, all of the ones I looked at had a minimum requirement for people (so you and all the bridesmaids would have to get it done, etc.) and it was very expensive.

Are you or anyone who is attending the wedding really good at makeup?  I went out & bought great makeup from Sephora called HD - its amazing in pictures, and great even in the humidity & heat (made for being on tv and in photographs), and all the girls helped eachother with their makeup.  I also did lashes so that my eyes popped a little more.  It was fun for us and saved alot of money, and everyone looked amazing and it lasted all night!  The girls at Sephora can give you a lesson on applying it so that if you do decide to use it, you can practice as much as you want beforehand!

I did this bc I am super picky ab my makeup and didn't like how the resort did it either!

  • 3 weeks later...

Eeek! One week from tomorrow is our wedding, we leave in THREE days! I still don't have the contract from Yanna. I am not worried though. As long as we're on the beach and the officiant is there, and our small group of guests, nothing else really matters.

I am going to do my own hair & makeup. I have been experimenting off and on for a few months now, and I really  just want him to recognize me when I walk down the aisle. :-)

Question for you that have been there - did you use the music they provided for the ceremony? How was it? What was the song used at the end of the ceremony with the champagne toast? We have some songs selected for the ceremony that we want to use, but haven't found an upbeat, celebratory one for the end yet. Any suggestions? We're using Jason Mraz "I'm Yours" for the entrance, and "God Gave Me You" by Blake Shelton for our ring warming ceremony. We'll use "Dream Big" by Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band when we do our sky lantern release after dinner.

Can I add my date to the list please - 28th May 2013?

Been wondering if any of you have had your wedding streamed live to family and friends at home? Apparently it is possible if I talk to the Internet people when I get there - trouble is we would need to bring the equipment with us in order to set it up so would like some idea in advance

I will email the resort to clarify but wondered if anyone had successfully done it and if so what the dos / donts and costs involved were?

Thanks

I was wondering about streaming too, but I never asked the wedding coordinators. Have you found anything out? What kind of equipment would you need? I was toying with the idea of just doing a Skype or FaceTime call on my iPad. Not great quality, but they can watch the video later too.

Hello :) Yes they can do it but at an extra cost - I've emailed for a price but not heard back - Yanna was helping me with my enquiry Apparently people in the past have used webcams, laptops and iPads successfully - I guess if you have the correct apps / facetime/ Skype it will be fine There's also a site called Ustream that maybe of use They did ask me if I wanted them to contact an outside vendor to help so there might be someone professional who you could hire to take make all the IT issues easier Hope this is of help X

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
