Hi ladies!

Wedding is October 29, 2012, just 8 weeks away!

We are having the ceremony in the private beach gazebo-so excited! Cocktail reception on the pier/deck and reception is booked for Seaside grille. We aren't having dancing/DJ at the reception because there are only 30 guests, but are going to take over one of the night clubs after the reception.

Any other BDW brides going to be at DLR the week of 26 Oct-3 Nov?? It's creeping closer--so excited!

Just wanted to introduce myself as I have been reading this forum non stop for last few weeks! Have got so much information and tips from you ladies it's been such a big help and really reassuring!

We are getting married on 6th June 2013 at the garden gazebo, followed by cocktail hour on the pier and dinner on the beach !

Just wanted to asks if anybody knew, we are taking our own sound system with us, is there an electrical hook up on the beach or will this have to be a 'battery operated ' system?

Love hearing the wedding reviews and pictures , can't wait to show you mine!

Dani x

We were quoted $300-350 (see Dreams brochure also) for the A/V speakers/mic/iPod docking station set up for the beach ceremony. I think they will charge you a fee for the electricity hookup even if you bring your own unfortunately. I can't beleive speakers cost that much for less than an hour total play time!?

Hi Vancouver bride, My wedding is 10 days before yours!! We fly back home on the day of your wedding! Can't believe how soon it is all coming around, so exciting!! Although I feel I still am a bit in limbo with a few things. We have booked garden gazebo but still need to sort out options for cocktail and evening reception. Gemma x

Hi Gems2wed2012

Yeah-that's so exciting! Maybe we will see each other around the pool! We still have to do flowers, food menu, decorations, but it's all coming together! We are doing cocktails on the pier/deck of SSG and reception at SSG. I can't beleive it's less than 8 weeks away!

Congrats to you and your FI!

Vancouver Bride: I am getting married on October 27. We have 30 guests and are also using the Private Beach gazebo for the ceremony.

Some of our party arrives on the 23, and some on the 25th. We originally had that terrible overnighter in Toronto, but it was sorted and now we get back to Edmonton before midnight.

They didn't mention anything about a price for speakers, but honestly, I didn't think to ask. =( I feel like there are so many extra charges it is hard to know exactly how much this wedding will cost.

We were originally thinking of having the cocktails and reception on that private beach, but now I am veering more toward the Seaside grill deck, surcharge aside. I don't want to pay for drinks if people can just walk over to the bar, but the private beach is too far away from a bar for the guests. If you pay for the grill, do you still have to pay for the speakers?

One of my bridesmaids died very suddenly a couple months back, and wedding planning stopped until just recently. I feel like I am only now waking up and a lot of the details for the wedding just don't seem quite as important. We are pretty much going to get there and see what happens, I think. I have a dress, working on the vows, and I am just going to have to trust that everything else will sort itself out somehow. Might find table centre pieces in town or some such. I dunno.

Everyone here seems very happy with how their weddings have turned out, and I am very grateful for all of the positive feedback and reassuring words. Reading this forum lifted a big weight off of my shoulders.

Hi Andrenna

It's so exciting to "meet" another DLR bride, especially one with similar dates and guest list :) It sounds like our weddings are quite similar. We are doing private beach gazebo ceremony, SSG deck/pier cocktails, and SSG reception. I am also NOT happy about the reception venue fee (that none of the othe Dreams have apparently). Our wedding planner went all the way to the head of AI resorts and tried to remove it, but no luck. We wanted airconditioned for the older guests, so outside isn't an option for the reception.

We may have to pay for the speakers twice beleive it or not. We have one set with a mic for the beach ceremony and another set of speakers and mic for the reception/toasts. I have asked our planner to negotiate on a lower price or just getting one set and having them move it, but apparently the speaker set up is different for inside vs. outside. We are just bringing an ipod and hooking it up.

Yes the forced overnight from Vancouver flight disaster was quite a surprise, especially after our planner said that rarely happens. We are working with a planner and travel agent based in Vancouver. My FI and I were very stern and said that the Toronto overnight was unacceptable for our guests as several relatives are 70+. Instead we are going through Montreal with a free hotel stay and relaxed brunch that morning before flying to DR. It takes longer, but the more relaxed overnight will be easier for our grandparents. I was NOT happy about the flight situation, but it's solved now.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine that happening.  I'm happy to help you out or at least chat and vent to each other since our weddings are so similar if you want. Just PM me or email me at volpovwedding@gmail.com

Hi Wellthen02!

I'm also a DLR bride and getting married on Saturday April 20 2013! I'm leaving the hotel on April 24, but maybe we could get a chance to meet there and have a drink?

Good luck with all the preparations! although I feel it is still soooo far away, when I see all the papers needed I'm relief there is still time to get all that sorted out :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
