Dreams La Romana

Recommended Posts

I feel like I'm not ready at all.  I am still involved in dyi projects that I wanted to have been done by now.  I'm not looking forward to the packing part either.  Hopefully I can get it all done by next week so then I can just pack.  I can't believe how quickly it comes up.

Hello!

I am originally form Dominican Republic and I am planning my wedding in Bahia Principe La Romana. However, I would strongly recommend you to do your wedding at Punta Cana. The beach is the best from Dom. Rep. and there's tons of hotels to choose from.

I am doing my wedding in La Romana because Punta Cana is too far from the capital (La Romana is 1.5 hours away, while Punta Cana is 4.5 hours away), and 150 of my 200 guest are from Santo Domingo (capital), so I had to choose the closest location.

My fiance and I visited many resorts in Punta Cana when we were looking for our wedding location, and I can tell you that the one I liked the best was Barcelo Bavaro Palace Resort. It has a white gazebo that has the ocean in one side and two beautiful pools in the other side. That place is just perfect!!!

I have heard from all my Dominican friends that the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana is AMAZING! I haven't been there, but I didn't even check it out because it was out of my price range.

Good luck with your wedding!

In Dominican Republic is a tradition to feed the photographer or any other person that has to stay and work during the wedding.

Also, you don't want a starving photographer taking your pictures!!! (They may not come out as beautiful!).

Soccer1615, you're almost there!! It's crunch time. Hopefully all your paperwork and everything is all set to go? Don't stress too much about the little details, remember - half the time people won't even notice the things we stress about!!

Sherylh, I haven't had too hard of a time communicating with the WC at Dreams because I started early. Our wedding isn't until December, but I have all of the necessary things planned already. I have a few specifics with the decor, but I'm going to let Yanna for the most part do her thing.

Esme84, thank you for the advice! I didn't think about it until I read through another forum on her to feed the photographer, then I figured I'd get some advice!!

I've come to a stand still with planning. I am waiting on one more document to be apostilled, then will send everything to be translated. I am waiting on a design for one last favor then that will be complete. My step mom is busy at work making centerpieces and flowers. I ordered lanterns for the gazebo and sashes for the chairs. I got a thumbprint guest tree, it's awesome! I also got some things for a sand unity which I've got to work on. Invites are in the making!

My dress comes next month! I already got my jewelry. I just have to get the groom's outfit and shoes and figure out what I'm going to do with my nails/hair.

My biggest worry now is guest list...and who's actually going to end up coming.  One of my good friends just let me know that he wouldn't be able to come and it totally blew my mind. I actually cried. I rather some other folks say "i can't come" than the folks i really want there ya know! (that sounds sooooo horrible!)

Hi Adesir,

I feel you, we've had some close friends and family who can't come and it made me really sad. Thanks so much for the reassurance that their arrangements are nice. I looked at places outside of the resort but they are SOOO expensive for what I want. I need to scale back but the inflated estimates left a bad taste in my mouth so I think I'm just going to do everything through the hotel directly.

Still have so much stuff to do I'm trying not to stress out!

Good luck with planning and let's stay in touch so we can have a drink together while we're there.

-Jess

I know people have said this before but of course I didn't believe them until I got to see it for myself.  You have nothing to worry about.  The wedding coordinators work their butt off to help you have anything and everything you could possibly want.  I loved loved loved everything about dreams la romana.  They were so great to my group!!! It was above and beyond anything I could have ever wanted.  I will post some pictures soon!!! Ladies, nothing to worry about!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
