To respond to your other questions.  My ceremony is tentatively at 5:30 PM on the 12th on the pier (as I mentioned, religious ceremony is on the 11th, just the ceremony, nothing else).  The majority of my guests will be attending both ceremony, except 4 people.  I am wearing two different dresses, both ivory, but one more "evening gown" style for the 11th and the other one by Pronovias on the 12th (I posted a pic way back on this forum).  My photographer is HDC, they have very reasonable price and I really liked their work and the reviews given to them on this forum.  I am not using a resort photographer.  As far as linense, I would have preferred ivory as well, but because of the upcharge I will be just sticking with white.  My color is magenta and my theme is orchids so it will go just fine with white linens, I would think.  I went a little orchid-crazy with all the decor, when I post the planning thread you will see, lol.

Speaking of the hotel being booked up, because I desperately need one extra room I called Jenny directly to inquire if they have anything saved as a backup and they do have the room but they want $450 a night for a regular room!!!!! That's just crazy considering everyone who booked in my party is paying $177 a night.

Have you gotten your estimated charges yet?  I have been following up for the past 3 weeks, emailed Yanna 4 times (she was supposed to be doing my wedding), no response, called them, no response, finally emailed Jenny and she tells me she took over for my wedding.  I yet have to see my invoice and I have less than two weeks left, it is so frustrating.

Where are you having yours? I know that we will cross paths somewhere along the way.  I wish we would have bumped into each other earlier, we could have helped each other with transporting all of this stuff.  The only thing I am using of the resorts is chairs and sashes and china. I am bringing my own linens, flowers, gazebo decorations, centerpieces, cake decorations, pretty much everything. Can you believe they charge $30 for ivory linens? That seemed ridiculous to me, so I purchased my own, that I will hopefully be able to pass on to someone else afterwards.  So all of your guest won't be in town for your religious ceremony? Are you wearing two different dresses for the different ceremonies? Who is your photographer?

I have so many questions for you, too bad we are just now crossing paths, LOL

Hi Ladies,

Can any brides from the UK recommended anyone that does all the legal stuff and like the translations bits and bobs? Had a quote from the company that Thomas Cook recommended and was £1200 which I thought was really expensive is this about the right price or is this way over the top?

Thanks x

5:30 at the Pier, wow - that is cutting it short, my reception is at the pier at 6:30, LOL.  Let's see how they pull this off.  Do you know your table arrangement?  I only have 15 guest, outside of us two, and are doing the U shape that's in the pictures.  If you are also doing rectangular and want ivory, I have no problem sharing with you.

I got an estimate from Jenny a few days ago actually.  I had to change somethings on it, that will cut the cost slightly but yes I have received one.  Did you want to see mine?

Well that's such a rip off!! My guest are actually paying $196 a night / double occupancy, so $98 per person per night.  Yet, our reservations are Thursday- Sunday, if that is good for you, I will go ahead and forward it to you.  Not a problem.  I actually had two but I already cancelled the other one.

Hi Ladies :)))xx

@chanelo sweetie, we should definitely share ideas and if you are up for it, I would be glad to go half's with you on something, as you are right we only miss each other for few days :))) Let me know hon :)

@Katie and @anudrm ladies I really hope the you will be able to help each other with reservations and you will both have a fantastic day (I am sure you will meet smwh on the 12th lol :D)

However I am quite concerned with lack of information about prices to be honest. I am one of these people where I was to decide on what I am having and I was to hear how much exactly it will cost - not hearing about some extra charges for ivory linens a week before our wedding... I mean when, I have asked Yanna numerous time to give me a quote for how much everything will cost (excluding flowers), all she does she usually sends me Extras list in return lol :D

Don't get me wrong, I can only imagine how busy they get at the resort, especially when they have numerous weddings in one day, but sometimes it seems the forget to mention certain things...

That's why I am super happy that I have found this forum and all of you girls :))) This way we can share the info we get from WC's and try to plan our big days :))xx

xoxo

Soccer1615 - thanks for liking my parasol idea! it really is a cost effective way to give your bridesmaids a feature!

Just wondering on the linens - is anyone considering pintuck ivory or champagne banquet linens? I am hoping to purchase these but they are a little expensive... not too sure what to do! I will post a photo of what way I want the tables to be laid out on the deck and the pintuck linens... let me know what you think! cheesy.gif

@jess819 and @gems2wed2012

Welcome ladies to this thread, hope you enjoy it loads :)))xxxx

Share all you can with us about your planning your wedding days, we all love to hear new ideas and see pictures too if you have any ;D

@gems2wed2012, I am from UK and to be honest, because of the prices they charge to sort out all the paperwork, me and my FI decided to have legal ceremony here in the UK about 2 weeks before we go to DLR and have our REAL wedding with all the guests etc in DLR :)) As I mentioned earlier, I know it is not for everyone, but personally for us we thought we could spend this £1200 smwh else :D

I heard other ladies saying if you shop around you might find companies who charge slightly less than £1200 but so far least I seen was £1000..

Hope you and your FI will be able to find best solution :)) Let us know how you get on!

P.S. where about in UK u r from? :))

xoxo

I agree amurka, that's why I am so persistent when it comes to Jenny.  I need to know if I have to provide for myself before I run out of time to order it.  This site provided me with all the right questions, so I politely forwarded my questions and ideas on.  If you have any questions and if I can be any help, please feel free!

Hi Amurka,

Thanks for the info. I may look into doing that also as it is such alot of money to spend.

There's so many things I need to find out don't really know where to start lol. This forum has been a really good starting point though.

I'm really grateful of all the info and help :-)

We are from Hertfordshire.

Thanks again

Hello ladies!

We just booked our wedding for 27 Oct-3 Nov at DLR and I am so excited! Here is the most recent list with us added :) We just send out the info to our guests and are waiting for confirmations.

Any thoughts or advice on which room/building block my fiance and I should choose? Is it really worth the extra cost for the Preferred Club and will the Preferred Club seperate us from our guests?

Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
