Dreams La Romana

Hi Andreanna, I recently went to the resort for site visit and checked out both gazebos.  The smaller one would be nice if you want your ceremony on the sand.  All the set-up would be on the sand and you would also have to walk on the sand.  The gazebo is built out of rustic wooden pieces and you cannot really stand inside of it.  It is away from everything and your ceremony will be very private.  The bigger one has a walkway covered in crushed stone leading up to it and all the chairs would be set up on the lawn.  This gazebo is closer to the rooms and you will also have more resort guests walking by.  The gazebo itself is larger and much more sturdy.  At the end of the day, it would be your preference.  I am personally doing my ceremony on the pier because I do not want to walk on the sand and because my fiance doesn't like the gazebo idea.

Hope this helps.

Katie

I love the pictures of the gazebos, but am having difficulty deciding on which one.

There was a small wooden one that looked beautiful, as well as the white one that looked simple to decorate. For those of you who decided on one or the other, what were your pros and cons?

Thanks!

Thanks DreamsBride2011, that helped a lot!

I've heard a lot of negative things about the beach, but if there is even the chance of privacy, then I would love to use the wooden gazebo. I don't mind sand. ^_~

I'm sure the pier will be amazing for you two!

hey ladies..

Just letting you all know that I cant post my review on this thread!! it was removed by the people who run it as they want reviews doing on a seperate thread now.

Its on

If any of you want to look at it, but beware it is VERY long. But there are some photos on it and lots of info re the hotel itself.

You can also find photos in my album and if yu log onto HDC Punta Cana, my log in is jonathanandvictoria and the password is dreams.

Good luck everyone with your planning, yu can still contact me if you want any help or advice but I am really busy at the moment so may take a few days to get back to you.

Just wanted to say to you all to honestly not worry about things that seem to be a issue on here recently like vendors etc. firstly we were rarely bothered by anyone. as a group of 24 we were approached once maybe twice and they are extremely friendly and courteous when they come over. there is NO hassling what so ever and if anyone has ever felt hassled by them then i think this is either a one off or its a case of these people must be intimidated quite easily!!

We found the staff here the most friendliest and polite of any hotels in any countries that we have ever stayed at. they go over and above to ensure you have a good holiday, whether it be action packed or quiet and peaceful.

I must reiterate to have a plan b should the weather fail or a change of circumstances arises. as for the SSG, the food is great, but ladies ithe decking area is not that great if yu want to remain bite free!!

Try not to get to ate up about the location of your reception as once you get there, you will find there is plenty of places to choose from. I was 100% that i wanted an outdoor area, but I honestly would change all of that if I knew what i know now.

Godd luck girls, and like I say, mail me if you want any further help or just a shoulder to cry on.

From what I understood, they did away with the $1,000 rental fee to close down a restaurant for a private event and now are charging a per person fee and you still get to have a private reception.  I am not sure though if there is a minimum number of people required and whether you get a choice of a restaurant.  I asked to have my reception at the French restaurant and Yanna told me I could have a private party and I would have to pay for each of my guests but woudn't have to pay a $1,000 fee.

From my understanding, Jenny said that to have the SSG restaurant exclusively you choose the gold or silver menu and pay per person.does any one know anything about that? Are they no longer charging the $1000 for 60 ppl.

Thanks, Katie!!

Thats great! I also like the french resturant. I like the idea of having the entire resturant to ourselves.

Hi ladies,

I'm so happy for all past and upcoming brides who have chosen their destination wedding at dreams la romana.

We have also decided to take the plunge but cannot book are desired dates until September when the new brochures are out for 2013 a long time off i know but gives us lots of time to plan.

I wonder if anybody can answer some initial questions regarding rooms. Already parents to 2 children who will be 7 and 5 when we travel i have some concerns over sleeping arrangements of course this will be a family holiday/wedding i want my children with us (although some privacy may be needed on occasion ha!)  are children allowed in the partial sea view rooms/preferred??

Another query is if we are allocated a king size bed where do the children sleep? do they have room in the lounge area for pullouts?

I was thinking of booking the partial sea view room/preferred to qualify for the complimentary wedding due to numbers really and adding our specifics for cocktail hour and reception.  Does anyone have any prices or ideas on if this works out better.  As my FI is extravagant and want to have the best meal entertainment etc i thought this was an easier option due to our small numbers.  Any advice would be greatfully appreciative.

We are hoping to travel with family (although some are already say they cannot afford it  sad.gif) we have decided to book our dream wedding and know that some close friends will be coming too so probably around 8 adults.

I'm sorry if this sounds a little prompt especially for all upcoming brides but i like to be organised initially as i will be a stress head otherwise lol!

Thanks in advance

Hello Ladies,

I am a newbie to this forum but have been reading the posts for a while. My fiance and I are tentatively getting married on July 21, 2012. I did an extensive research in Punta Cana even did a site visit and picked out a location of where we wanted to do our DW at but its been a month since I have heard anything from anyone confirming time, DJ, photographer etc. Which led me to explore other parts of DR <La Romana> My biggest concern are the flight situations. We are having a rather large DW of about 85-100 people. Have any of you heard of the max. # you would need to have the whole restaurant to yourselves? Or if if any of you wonderful brides/brides-to-be have pics of indoor ceremony that would be a blessing.

I have just starting looking into Dreams La Romana but I am definitely appreciating the quicker responses I get from Jenny. So far this forum has been so helpful so i thank you all for your posts. Any advice would be extremelyyyy appreciated.

Congrats to you all!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
