Thank you everyone!! I wanted to have shared the pictures earlier but we printed mini photobooks for our guests and wanted to hand them out before pictures went all over the net. BTW if you're thinking of getting photobooks done, check out http://www.kodakgallery.ca, not only they are a lot cheaper and offer you more options online than at their kiosk locations (including adding tons mores pages) but if you chose to get your order delivered to a bestbuy or futureshop its extremely fast! I got 30 little books with 25 pages each and one huge hard cover photobook with 80 pages for us and everything was printed and delivered in 4 days! It's No joke, check them out!

So Im going to try to answer as many questions as possible, we had the free package but then upgraded to the middle package (I forget the name) as we didnt think we were going to get a photographer (which we did hire HDC at the end) - the chair sash in orange was included. The fabric on the gazebo was $150 US as Yanna suggested and we agreed it would be better than nothing on the gazebo for a religious ceremony.

JuneDreamsBride:

The priest is not the one that DLR offers, when i started planning my wedding they did not offer religious services so Tiara gave me the number of the priest she knew so i could contact him directly. Father Luis is from San Pedro de Macoris (about 1hr away) and he only speaks Spanish, luckily my little cousing (the one in blue during the wedding) speaks fluent Spanish and English so he ended up translating the entire ceremony for Paul and the English guests. The rest of the guests and I are from Brazil, so although we speak Portuguese, latin american Spanish sounds the same for us.
Please note that no one should EVER put a charge for a religious ceremony. The church is very clear on 'you donate how much you want', so my family donated the money directly to Father Luis to help his parish. I am not saying the hotel is trying to scam the church, but just make sure they money you're paying is going to the parish so in a way you are helping the community and not just the resort ;)

KrystalKelley:

We didn't get music for the reception, it was just our luck that they players were walking by as we started the dinner so Yanna waved for them to come play a few songs for us. Quite honestly, you don't need music if you're not getting a dance floor. You can hear the nice music from the restaurants and lounge area around ssg. We went to the disco after and danced the night away! I haven't got the pics yet as the only friend who took them lives up North here in Canada.

The resort spa did the hair and make up, Maria did an amazing job and so fast! I showed her a few pictures and she actually explained to me why she was making a few modifications to the style I chose (what looks better with my hair type and face shape, etc). I brought my make up and asked her to put it on for me. She was awesome!!

We all stayed in building 4, which is not preferred. Although it seems that it will be loud, it is not. All the shows by the pool are done by 10:00 PM. It is the best building to be as everything is very close to it! They upgraded us to the partial ocean view. They did offer to upgrade to preferred but I chose to be close to my parents and bridesmaids, which was a good idea. A few friends upgraded to preferred and said it was nice but not necessary. Wi-fi for the week is 50 US but only for one device, so if you have a wi-fi hub, ensure that is the first device to be connected. the AP is by the middle of the building, so depending where you are, upload speed is very slow.

We did the cocktail at the pier, I put the pictures together with the reception pictures so it would look like one big party (hehehe). The guests enjoyed it while we ran to the beach with Francisco from HDC to catch the little sun that was left.

At first we thought we wanted round tables, but since we didnt have a huge group (24 guests) Yanna suggested to use this different setup, and we are very glad we went for it!! It did look awesome, as I said I bought the table runners from ebay and the decor from walmart and chinatown - btw they are all fake flowers except my bouquet the main centerpiece.

We only rented the deck of the SSG, it was included in the package.

On the day we arrived I went to reception and asked when I was going to meet with the coordinator as I was getting married in two days, so they booked the time for me on the spot. We meet with Yanna the day before our wedding, she called the spa from her desk and booked the hair trial for the same day. We felt sooooooo relaxed when we finished our meeting with Yanna that it felt the someone took all weight off of our shoulders and could then start enjoying our wedding week!

Sabrinaa: We chose the strawberry cake, it was delicious! I should have asked them to bring the rest to my room so I could eat it all!!

Let me know if anyone has any more questions, I would love to help :)

Most important of all, relax and ENJOY your time at DLR. La Romana Is a beautiful and relaxing place and will surprise your guests who have been to Punta Cana and expect tons of resorts and rude tourists. For me La Romana is a lot more romantic for a wedding then Punta cana ;)

I'll put the vacation pictures up on the same gallery so it may clarify some questions you may have about the resort itself :). I'll keep you girls posted.

Besos para todas!!!

I agree with Dressa a 100% about RELAX.  I was a hundred percent stressed before I arrived Dreams until I took a step off the transfer bus.  Once I got off I knew I picked the right placeand it was going to be great.  The staff was great in taking our bags to the room even though we kept trying to help with bring our bags up to our room (for the first couple of days we were in building 7 on the third floor and we had about 8 suitcases).   And let me tell you the rooms are beautiful.  I went down to ask when I can meet with Jenny and I was able to talk to her right than there and we spoke throughout three days prior to the wedding and she was just the BEST to work with.  Yanna and Jenny both speak perfect english and they really try the hardest to make this a very easy going and fun time.  As a secret surprise Jenny upgraded us to a suite for the rest of the 7 night stay.  Which was awesome especially since I needed space to get my hair and makeup done.  So if they try to upgrade I say take it.  I was in preferred and say it is worth it because you get free wifi, only premium alcohol and you have a pool you can relax and get away to if you just want piece and quite.  I also Highly recommend getting a relaxing massage from the spa, I get massages every couple of months and at dreams was one of the best I have ever had.  Drink some bananamama's as they are just delicious or some mojitos.

I also highly recommedn DJ Mannia if your guests love to Dance and Photosouvenir their quality of work is amazing.  My sisters boyfriend who is a professional photographer has been blown away by the quality of the pictures and the different effects.

I am waiting for my online gallery to be up from the photographer I will post the link on here.

I am also available to answer any questions.

Dressa,

Thank you for all the answers. By any chance do you have the priest's information, so that I can contact him? Spanish is my native language and most of the guests are from Venezuela, so it's perfect that he speaks Spanish.

Jenn,

Thank you as well for all the tips. Looking forward to seeing your pictures!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
