Thank you very much :)

Yes my hair and make up trial was awful, but I have read other reviews where ladies have had much better experiences so perhaps I just didn't get the best person for the job!! also, their make up is really basic, they pulled it out of the cupboard in what looked like a freezer bag and it all looked like a my first make up kit!

Just in case any of you ladies were unsure, we had the gold menu included in our package but you are allowed to mix and match from the silver menu also if there is something you prefer from there!

The lanterns were brought down by my father in law....it was lovely, we set about 5 or 6 off and it was so chilled and calm and they looked beautiful in the starry sky :) our waiters sorted them out for us in the end, after we tried and failed to get them going - they have obviously used them before :) they attracted quite a crowd and everyone clapped when they went up - it was lovely!!!

Try not to be too nervous, honestly everything comes together so easily when your there and have your meeting with the WC - everything is so simple and just a phone call away - I didn't choose my cake, flowers or menu etc until I arrived, everything will be perfect!!!!

The resort was so beautiful, it looks just like the pictures in the brochures - there are some really lovely spots and the food in the restaurants is great - the beef fillet in the French is to die for!!!!!! Oh also, if you have the honeymoon package included don't forget about your private candlelit meal - you can choose where you want it - we went with the end of the pier and it was great, we had our own waiter and the food was again brilliant!! you can choose from three 5 course menus for this night!!

Our room was 5238 (block 5, floor 2) it looked onto the preferred pool which was lovely and quiet - think you can see it in some of my pics!!!

Hope this helps....happy planning :)

What are you ladies discussing in regards to menu's. They changed the gold and silver menus? I have yet to pick anything from there for my SSG reception. Also, what was that kite latern that I saw in your reception? Did you bring that down? I am so excited, yet so nervous. We have two months to go and still so many questions. My dress isn't even in yet. ahh! But the resort does look beautiful. Also, what block was your room in? Thanks!!

Ok girls,

Here's a question, and  I will comply if I can. Is there anything you want me to specifically take a picture of. I know when I started this journey I would devour each new photo that came up...  so let me know and I hope I can do it!

Just found out my custom glasses i got for my wedding party will probably not make it due to a shipping error on their part :( oh well, we can't sweat the small stuff at this point right?

Hey Emma,

What is your wedding day?  My wedding is in exactly 6 weeks!!! Very excited and still soo much to do.  I have been looking also for things to do for the wedding events.  I wanted to look for an act as well but I didn't want it to cut the dancing party time either.  So we are doing a fishing boat excursion for the guys the day before and something for the ladies maybe pedis and massages but not sure. We are having a cigar roller for the reception

I've been skulking since mid-last year and I've posted a couple of times, but it's now about 7 weeks until my wedding so I've been reading everyone's posts every day!  Congratulations to those who are up next to get married, and HAVE FUN!

I wanted to see if any brides (past or present) have considered having entertainment at their wedding.  I found some info on a company called The Circus of Dreams that does Cirque du Soleil type performances.  The price I'd seen that someone else paid last year for them to perform, and the prices I just got from Jenny are COMPLETELY different and I wondered if anyone else had looked into booking the show for their reception?  Our alternative is to have some of the Dreams dancers do a dance show, so I wondered if anyone had booked or seen any of their shows?

People are spending a pretty penny to come to our wedding so we thought it would be nice if we splurged on some great entertainment, but it seems a little unreasonable to pay almost as much for the entertainment as we are paying for the wedding itself!!

Anybody that's booked entertainment for their wedding, I'd love to hear from you!!

Kisses to you all ladies!

~Emma~

Hi jenngene2011! Our wedding is on May 14th, but we leave here on the 10th. I'm finally getting excited! My FMIL is sewing our table toppers and chair bows so the table decor is nearly done. That was my biggest worry! Will you still be at the resort on the 11th or 12th? Are you just totally excited now, or freaking out a bit? I think if it weren't for the acupuncture I'd be mad with anxiety!

Hi amurka! I believe the Dreams dancers are $100 per dancing couple and they do about 3 dances and the show lasts about 30 minutes. And they do do Bollywood dancing, which is what I would want them to do if I got the dancers as entertainment. But I really wanted The Circus of Dreams to perform. Jenny said that they $1,200 plus 16% tax for approximately a 25 minute show of floor acts only. For $2,100 plus 16% tax you can get a 45 minute show that includes aerial acts. I mean that really does seem like not so bad a price, but compared to the dancers and compared to the total cost of our "free" wedding, it's a ton! We'll see. The fiancé is super excited about the Circus show so we may just need to splurge. Have you heard about any other entertainment options?

This is unacceptable and emailed Arnaud and emailed Yanna... This better be a form letter because I will freak. I do not take lightly to being screwed. I booked Arneaud in July of 2010, and now with only three weeks to going to the DLR, this is the last thing I need. Starting to wonder if they are going to change even more things about my contract :(

I have had over three different price quotes, contracts, etc. with this company since I booked this wedding.  Would not recommend this company to anyone, but I'll hold my breath as to posting a negative review on trip advisor or the better business bureau until I actually get married (keeping in mind that by the time my wedding comes they may have stopped having weddings altogether).  If people hadn't already booked their flights, I would have changed locations long ago because of the lack of attention to detail, inability to hold to and/or accurately quote prices and ignoring of emails.  Don't do your wedding at this place if you value communication.

Do you happen to have pictures of flowers and stuff that maybe they sent you earlier.  I haven't received anything and I am getting annoyed lol.  Maybe you can email it to me at noemimgonzalez@gmail.com.  Or if anyone here has pictures of flowers or decorations please please please forward them to me.  Let me think, I would like to see pictures of the pier because I know people have cocktail hour there but it seems small to me i don't know. Also, pictures of the ballroom if you can I know you are not having your reception there but I am and would appreciate it so much :)

Is that true that they no longer allow to reserve a restaurant for a private reception for a fee?  When I made my deposit, I speficially detailed that I wanted to reserve one of the a-la-carte restaurants rather than SSG for a private reception and Tiara said no problem (I have an email from her stating that).  So with this new policy, the only way to have a private reception is Silver or Gold menu?  Would they allow to have your own music?  I know in the past they didn't allow your own music unless you have private space.

Anyone has any thoughts on this?

Katie

I got an email back from Jenny today that said that there is no longer an option to get the whole restaurant reserved for your reception ($1000) so she said if I want to have a private reception (a.k.a.  not just everyone sitting at a bunch of tables in a restaurant with other people around) then I have to choose from the gold or silver menus.  Too bad, because we are going to have enough people that I think the $1000 rental might have ended up being the cheaper way to go!

Glad the photographer stuff is sorted out - and I guess after all the drama, it turns out to be a good thing because it saves us all the $65 fee for the day pass for HDC!!  Look at that positive spin!! haha.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
