Hi Dana,

Well during the day for lunch World Cafe was open and most people went there, but SSG also does a la carte lunch which was mostly burgers, salads etc - lovely food! we went there all the time! The night we went for dinner at SSG the starters were not great, mostly deep fried and not much filling in them, but the main course was lovely. I had the beef and it was really good, but it didnt come with sauce and i'm a big fan of pepper sauce with a steak so I am not sure what your menu is but if you are having steak ask for sauce aswell! The other couple we met there though went to SSG for dinner a few times and their starters were fine so I think we just got a bad night for starters!

Dana, I just received the menu as well.  I'm confused with which choices to pick because my fiance and I don't eat red meat but I know we can't exclude it because so many of our guests do. So, that leaves us with the tuna steak or BBQ chicken with bone (which sounds to me like leg quarter with BBQ sauce on it).  What is a girl to do?

Lisa, you looke stunning! Congrats! So I am nervous about my hair and makeup now. I can do my own makeup and probably figure out my own hair, but I kind of wanted to be pampered and get a professional do it the day of my wedding. So it was absoultely terrible? What are you ladies discussing in regards to menu's. They changed the gold and silver menus? I have yet to pick anything from there for my SSG reception. Also, what was that kite latern that I saw in your reception? Did you bring that down? I am so excited, yet so nervous. We have two months to go and still so many questions. My dress isn't even in yet. ahh! But the resort does look beautiful. Also, what block was your room in? Thanks!!

To all those still wondering about the photographer situation, I emailed Tiara today about me still being allowed to bring my own photographer with me since I've already paid for his trip as well as his servicves, and got a response from someone name Jenny and this is what she had to say:

Dear Danielle,

We understand there has been some confusion over our wedding photography policy so we wanted to provide some information on the recent change.

Similar to many other wedding venues, we recently selected a new preferred vendor for our in-house photographer. Tropical Pictures is a reputable photography company that we trust will capture beautiful images of weddings and other photo sessions at our resort.

Although there has been some speculation, this change does not impact a bride and groomâ€s ability to select an outside vendor for their wedding photography. Both local and foreign photographers are permitted to take photos on our property if hired by a bride and groom or their family. Additionally, there is no charge to bring an outside photographer on our property for the day to take photos of a wedding.

We know that photography is an important part of any wedding day and want to be sure each bride and groom feels comfortable with their decision, regardless of who they select as a photography vendor. Our wedding coordinator will be happy to guide you through the process to make sure that you are making the right choice for your wedding day.

We hope this information helps our future brides and grooms gain a better understanding of our policy regarding wedding photography

This means that we are allowed to bring whomever we wish to take our pictures but they are promoting this particular company. :-)  I hope this helps everyone as much as it's helped me.

Lisa thanks for the info....don't have time right now, but CANNOT wait to look at your pics!  I will probably email you a few questions!

I got an email back from Jenny today that said that there is no longer an option to get the whole restaurant reserved for your reception ($1000) so she said if I want to have a private reception (a.k.a.  not just everyone sitting at a bunch of tables in a restaurant with other people around) then I have to choose from the gold or silver menus.  Too bad, because we are going to have enough people that I think the $1000 rental might have ended up being the cheaper way to go!

Glad the photographer stuff is sorted out - and I guess after all the drama, it turns out to be a good thing because it saves us all the $65 fee for the day pass for HDC!!  Look at that positive spin!! haha.

Hi Ladies!

I've been skulking since mid-last year and I've posted a couple of times, but it's now about 7 weeks until my wedding so I've been reading everyone's posts every day!  Congratulations to those who are up next to get married, and HAVE FUN!

I wanted to see if any brides (past or present) have considered having entertainment at their wedding.  I found some info on a company called The Circus of Dreams that does Cirque du Soleil type performances.  The price I'd seen that someone else paid last year for them to perform, and the prices I just got from Jenny are COMPLETELY different and I wondered if anyone else had looked into booking the show for their reception?  Our alternative is to have some of the Dreams dancers do a dance show, so I wondered if anyone had booked or seen any of their shows?

People are spending a pretty penny to come to our wedding so we thought it would be nice if we splurged on some great entertainment, but it seems a little unreasonable to pay almost as much for the entertainment as we are paying for the wedding itself!!

Anybody that's booked entertainment for their wedding, I'd love to hear from you!!

Kisses to you all ladies!

Dana that's so great that WC's are being more organized closer to your wedding day!!! I am sure it gives you more hope that everything is going to be alright, so don't worry hon :Dxx

Welcome Tink!!! :Dx Thank you so much for posting this, while reading what Dreams put on their facebook it gave me an impression that this could be the case (meaning they have removed day pass for photographers), that such a great news! :))) Btw are you getting married in Dreams La Romana too??!! :D Tell us all about it and how far along are you with your planning?? :)))

Speak to you all soon ladies :))

xoxo

Thanks for the welcome! I'm planning on having my wedding at Dreams Punta Cana, all we have so far is the date we want which is August 19, 2012. We've booked a trip this October to look at the resort and finalize our decision. That's about all we have so far :) A friend of mine is getting married at Dreams La Romana this July and according to her the resort is gorgeous. I've been looking into DLR and DPC but decided on DPC because it's a bit bigger and traveling there is easier from New York. Here we can take direct flights to DPC where as DLR will always need connections and will therefore be a little bit more expensive. I'm from the Dominican Repbulic myself and have visited Majestic and Dreams Punta Cana when it was called Sunscape the Beach. Hopefully its as nice as I remember it! If anyone has any questions Dominican related I'd be more than happy to help :)

Hi Emma :)))

Congrats sweeties on your soon coming wedding, 7 weeks YAY!!! :D As I said numerous times, I am sooo excited for you all ladies that are getting married and cant wait to see your reviews and most importantly PICTURES lol :D

Emma, I was just thinking about entertainment last night, what a coincidence!...I was thinking on hiring DJ, but went off that idea,... then seen some pictures from Dreams when they do shows in the hotel and thought that you must be able to hire them for your wedding too :))) Do you think you could tell us the price Jenny told you, please??!! :)))) We don't have that many ppl coming, so I thought a good entertainment like this will loosen everyone up and will be a nice touch to the wedding too :)))

xoxo

Tink, Congrats again on confirming the date!!! :)) It always seems more real when you have the date to be honest :D And its great that you planned to go over there and check for yourself everything in October and talk through all details with WCs etc. I personally think that if you can, thats the best way to do it, cos then you know exactly what to expect and WCs know exactly what you want so when you arrive for your wedding you are more relaxed and will be able to enjoy every second of it :)))

We were considering Punta Cana too at first, but me and my FI felt in love with Dreams hotel as soon as we saw it :D

xoxo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
