I'm wondering what wedding package to secure as of now.. i have 26 guests booked already... and i want my reception at the sea side grill private party and after party dance etc...

does anyone know what the cost is to rent the SSG for a private party ??

if you take the free wedding package.. does anyone know what it costs per head in addition?

in terms of chair rentals etc.. you can rent these for 8$ a chair i see.. so I'm assuming none are included..:S

has anyone been there that has used the decor? if so.. is it in good shape or would you recommend bringing my own? IE: Chair sashes..

thanks everyone!!! this forum is a life saver to me!!

Welcome Amanda! :)

Congrats on confirming your wedding day and at last there is another bride of 2012 in here yay!!! :D We are getting married 6th March 2012, but I do agree it seems not that far away already lol :)))...time just flies by...it seems like just yesterday we got engaged, but its already almost 5months ago!!! :)

This forum is a life saver for sure if you will have stamina ;) to read through all the posts you will find hundreds of great ideas and girls on here are very helpful too :)

I don't know much about situation with SSG, cos i know recently they have been changing conditions and prices...and we decided to have our reception on the beach, it just looked even more privet and you can have bar and music there which is fantastic :D

About the chairs...if i am not mistaken you have to only pay extra for wooden beach chairs and tiffany chairs, - i think plastic ones are included in the package together with sashes and ribbons of set colors.

I hope this helps and hopefully other girls can advise you more about SSG :))

How far along are you in your planing? :)) Did you find your dress etc already?? :)) sorry i am just curious lol ...

xoxo

Hey there and welcome!

Really its not that far away, and starting to plan now will be so much better. And this thread helped me so much!!! You'll find all sorts of information here.

Dreams has changed alot of their policies since I originally booked, the changes happened in mid July I believe, so my contract has things that are not necessarily availalbe anymore. But I'm sure Tiara or Yanna can help you.

I chose the free package. I have booked the SSG for 1260 usd. This includes the food off of their menu for up to 60 people. After 60 I am charged 30$ a head (we are currently 48 so i'm still under that umbrella)  I booked the dj for 250$ and i am also paying 12.60 per person for the bar service.  I have confirmed that there is a house wine at the SSG during dinner. I am also paying 8.96 per head for cocktail hour.

I'm not sure of the exclusivity of the SSG now, but i'm sure you can arrange something. they have meeting halls as well (which I never looked into) Just tell her you wish to have a private reception and she should give you her options.

The chair decorations and chairs at the ceremony are provided, but they are not the tiffany chairs, which are 8$ each. I opted on the regular chairs. Although so pretty, just didn't want the added expense.

I have images of the decor there.. if you want to pm me your email, I can forward it to you.  I'm bringing down my own centerpieces and maybe some table runners.. haven't decided yet on the table runners.

Hope that ansers some of your quetstions, or at least helps you ask the right ones to Tiara.

Be patient also, she tends to answer slowly because she is so busy. Lately since i'm close to the wedding she's been on the ball and wonderful.

amurka - I'm not sure about what cake decorations are included, I would say if you want something very specific, it would be best to bring them down.  I know previous brides have brought their cake decorations with them and gave them to tiara with a pic of the cake and it seemed to turn out great!

If anyone wants the rest of the pics of cakes and flowers just pm me your email and I will forward them to you (too many to post all of them on here!)

amandajd - I just emailed Tiara about the chairs a couple days ago - she told me the Tiffany chairs (available in a few different colors) are $15 US each.  When I asked her about the free package initially (we decided on the ultimate package) she said that it was for 10 guests so anything over 10 guests would be additional charge (extra chairs, cake, etc).  It might be best to verify with Tiara just to make sure!

Questions for all you ladies, past DLR brides and upcoming ones....is anyone planning on shipping items down to Dreams before hand (ex. larger OOT bag items or larger decor items)?  Someone suggested that I pack up some of my stuff and mail it down to Tiara to hold until we get there, but I'm thinking that possibly the shipping costs and stress might not be worth it and it might be better just to pay the extra money for another checked bag?  Any thoughts?

Hello there :))) I have thought about it for a little while myself, as I have seen this option in one of Dreams wedding brochures...but as yourself, I am a bit afraid that it will be way to expensive (especially sending it from UK) and the stress of the package getting there might be a bit too much....so I personally decided to have everything with me and pay for extra luggage, or ask relatives that are flying with us to take an extra bag for us :)) this way at least I know it will all be there when we come to DR :D Does anyone of you ladies had an experience of shipping things to DR?!... xoxo

Hey Laides,

As I started sifting through the MANY items i've accumalated the past year for the wedding I thought the same thing. I just know most people say do no send it because it coudl "disappear". So we bought an extra big luggage and are bringing all the extras that way.  Its safer (hopefully) I'm worried regardless about my glass vases but I picked them up for 1$... so hopefully they get there in good condition!!! :)  geeez I HAVE BOUGHT ALOT OF STUFF LOL...

Amurka, good idea about getting family/friends travelling to take a few things....there will be 14 with us on our flight so I'm sure I can give them each a little of this and a little of that!

Dcairns, where did you get those $1 vases?  I was going to ask Tiara if they provide vases or if I have to rent them but if they are only a dollar, I can stuff socks and other clothes in them in my suitcase so they don't take up too much room and they are "padded"....kind of!  I know what you mean about accumulating so much stuff - I started out with a wedding box that I was keeping stuff in as I bought it (about the size of dresser drawer) and now I have a whole closet....not looking good for packing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
