Hi NancM,

I have taken Dukoral before heading to a Caribbean destination.  If I remember correctly, there are 2 doses you have to take, with the first one starting about 2 weeks before your departure date.  It is something you drink....you mix a powder in some water and pour this little vile of liquid into the water also....and then you drink it.  It doesn't taste bad.  I take it before I go away becasue I have a sensitive stomach, and don't want to risk getting sick or having an "accident" lol.  I do not have any children so can't advise you about giving it to them.

I've had no problems with it, have not been sick while away (thank goodness, knock on wood!), and will also take it when it's my time to travel to DLR for my wedding :)

My MOH and I decided to do our make up on each other. I'm not big either on Make up,  but we are going to do the MAC thing.  Explain to the tech that we will be in a hot environment and such. I rather pay for make up that I can keep, than someone putting it on  me. My mother is getting hers done as she had a stroke 2 years ago and has lost mobility in her arm. So i'm setting that up for her so she feels as awesome as she could.

I think it is a great idea for you girls to get some pointers from a makeup artist at home.  This will you give you time to practice and perfect the application.  I having my makeup done by my sister who is a professional makeup artist and hair from a good friend of mine who is a hairstylist.  But if I didn't have them I would be at all the different shops from MAC to Bobby Brown and asking as many questions as possible.

Thank you so much for your responses girls! This is why I love this forum!! After giving it more thought I have to agree with you...people are paying so much to come to our wedding and we should at least have a dinner for them, I have guests coming from Brazil that are paying more than USD $2000 per person.. so I emailed Tiara to get the prices for the SSG as she had only sent me the prices for the buffet which ends up being something like $30 per person plus alchohol! I am really hoping I get a similar price as you have...and it turns out that our friend who is a photographer wants to do our wedding pictures, so that gives us more room to fit in a reception! YAY!!

Pink_Petals, It's amazing you were able to get so much for you budget! I really need to work on my negotiation skills!! We were hoping to keep everything under $3000 (including the fees for the legal papers and the wedding rings) but its worth the sacrifice to thank our guests for spending so much just to attend our wedding!!

XOXO

Hi Girls

I have trawled through ssoo many reviews but I cant seem to find anyone who used the DJ for their ceremony. If you did or are could you let me know how long you hire them for, how much they charge and do I need to send a play list. Thats all for now. Sorry if I've been completely dozy and missed the thread altogether.

Getting read for my Chicks party ( mini hen do for my bridesmaids), going to take them to local salon for a pamper party and then for a nice meal.

Happy Planning x

Hey Husty,

In my case, I brought my own speaker down and had my friend who is a dj play the various songs (i.e. guest waiting music, bridesmaids music, bridal march music, etc)

However, Tiara told me that the resort DJ will set up his equipment and he will play your bridal song for free. I was a little more pushy and I asked Tiara if the DJ would be able to play a few extra songs free of charge in addition to my 'walking down the isle' song such as the bridesmaids' song and a few songs while the guests waited and she said that it would be ok! So talk to her and see what she says!

If you want to have the DJ play music at your reception, then you will have to pay of course.... I believe its $250 for 4 hours....I dunno if that has changed

I am in the same boat with the makeup situation. Though I have already payed for makeup application (part of our wedding package) I will be passing on that appointment to my mom. My mom thinks I'm crazy not to have my makeup done by someone, but I have been using makeup since I was 15 and I know I can pull it off.
I'm planning on going to Macy's department store in the next few weeks and buying eyeshadow from MAC, I think that they have the most saturated colors when it comes to eyeshadow. I have been using their concealer and mascara for a few years now and really love it. The only thing that I am unsure of is foundation, I have had so many different recommendations for foundation, some people swear by Bobbi Brown, my mom just bought Armani foundation she says is amazing, I don't know. I guess I'll just walk the counters and see what feels best on my skin.
Bee- What foundation did you use? You look absolutely flawless in your pictures, so perfect.

NanC- what dates will you be at DLR? We are flying in on November 22, will you still be there?

Hi uninspired1979,

I'm so glad you brought up MAC mascara...I've been having a hard time finding one that doesn't flake or clump, so I will be sure to try that one when I go get my makeup done by them.  We're havign our legal ceremony on November 5th, so I will probably have it done on that day.

I too, would love to know what type of foundation you used Bee...uninspired is right, you did look flawless!

We'll be at DLR from November 11th til November 25th.  Our flight home from La Romana Airport is at @ 3:30 pm.  What time do you arrive on the 22nd?  All of our guests will have gone by then (they leave on the 18th), so my husband and I would love to meet you and your fiancé after you arrive.  Let me know what works for you...and we will try to meet in person!  When is your wedding?  Are you bringing decorations down with you, or do you need any?  I'm not sure what your color scheme is, but I'll be bringing down paper lanterns, table runners, linen napkins, etc...in fuchsia and orange and wasn't planning on bringing them home.  If you need any of them, just let me know and I will make sure to have them there for you.  Can't believe in a little over 3 weeks, I will acutally be there and getting the final details of the wedding organized!  It's all happening so fast...

I hope to meet you in person at DLR...happy planning and packing.

Hi LisaRob,

Thanks for the concurrence on taking Dukoral...my fiancé and I will be taking it and I spoke with a couple of doctors and pharmacists and have managed to convince my children's father that it is a good thing for them to take it, so I have the green light to give it to them too.  I just don't want them to have their first trip to a resort end up with one or both of them getting sick.  If there is any way for me to prevent that, then I will and so far, I have heard of no adverse side effects from taking it, both for adults and children.  I feel very reassured.  Thanks for the advice!

Hi Bee,

What type of music did you bring down?  We've got a ton of songs on our Ipod in different folders, for the walk down the aisle, first dance, etc...do you know if the resort DJ can access these folders on our Ipod or would we actually need CD's for him to play?  How did it work with your friend who played the music for you?  Were they all from music files, on a memory stick, a computer?  I did ask Yanna, but she hasn't told me what type of music the DJ will need.  We have certain songs we'd like played at certain times and I just want to be sure that we will have the music we've selected.

As always, thank you so much for your advice!

Nancy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
