Dreams La Romana

I'm doing OOT bags but we only have 19 rooms, I'm making just 1 per room since we mostly have families and couples. I bought these really colorful gift bags at Michaels, were a total steal at around $7 for 12.

I'm going to be putting the following things in mine.

Envirosax nylon shopper bag, found them at half price at Target.

Wedding Emergency Kit- bought little metal boxes which I plan on putting some meds, bandaids and such in, making a custom label in the next few days for the box.

Puzzle books, and maybe playing cards.

USB flash drives- FI came up with this idea. Really wanted to give our guest 1 item that they would keep using even after the vaca. We found a website where they custom engrave them, I think they are about $4 a piece. Not cheap but to us worth the splurge. Plus we are both kind of tech nerds, so it is a gift that refers back to us. We're planning on preloading each one with some pics and a few songs, so that when pple put them into their comps for the first time they get a surprise.

I might also throw some candy in there, but I will have to see when the time draws closer.

I will try to post a planning thread at some point since I am finally starting to get things put together now. Thank god I had the mind to empty out a closet a few months back because now I have a place to store everything.

I haven't been on here in the longest time....ladies thanks for all the help by posting soooo much useful information. I really feel that I made the right decision in picking DLR, because of you all. We leave tomorrow at midnight for our flight and our wedding is next friday!! I feel like I still have so much to do...but screw it. It will be ok!

Does anyone have a copy of the vows that either pastor rick uses or the resort? I know its last minute, but I want to see what is out there.

My email is: telly032@live.com

thanks again!

Hi Ladies,

I know I want a destination wedding and I've bounced around from St Lucia, to Riviera Maya, and now DR.  I LOVE the look and reviews of DLR.  My question is the beach ceremony.  We are beach and ocean people so I want the ceremony to be on the beach.  I read on someone's review that DLR was possibly making a 'private' beach area for ceremonies - has anyone heard anymore about this?  I definitely don't want a topless european in my photos.  While its not the end of the world - it would be nice for a private beach area to exist.

And this is totally random . . . but when I looked at St Lucia and Riviera Maya - the resorts had these beautiful four poled awnings.  All the DR resorts I'm looking at seem to have a palm frond arch instead.  Any idea if DLR has one of these?

hermosahoops - great photo.  I actually just took a hoola hoop exercise class on tuesday - it was soo much fun.  Hopefully this will be one more trick to get the beach body ready for the big day!

Thanks all!

Quite a few past brides had a beach ceremony... try and searce the reviews for Dreams La Romana.  I know that there is an extra charge for the arch, maybe they consider the four poles a hoopa, which is also on there price list.  Welcome! And I hope you find your resort soon ;)

Hi Sera!

I'm glad you liked the picture. I used to try and get out every night and hoop on the beach, but I've fallen off lately. I went and hooped this weekend for a couple hours at a drum circle and remembered how much I love it. It is great exercise; if you really get into, it has been said you can burn 600 calories an hour. Let me know if you keep up with your hoop class!

Dana, I think we're just going to give out parasols at the ceremony to keep everyone shaded during the event and that will be our favor.  I may end up giving a jar of candy that will sit on the table as an accent to the centerpieces as their other favor.  I can get the colored candy cheap and just put them in jars from Walmart or Oriental Trading or Michaels.

We're trying to doing something that won't cost us $1000.  I have a friend looking into wholesale parasols in Miami in gray and purple.

Uninspired, where did you find the little emergency kit boxes? I've been having a heck of a time finding boxes to put our medical kit stuff into. I don't want to end up using ziplocs because that seems so cheesy, but I can't find anything else that will work....

I can't WAIT to see Bee's HDC photos. She put such an amazing effort into getting everything ready and I imagine her wedding is going to be lovely.

On another note, I've been pouring over this thread for a couple days. It has great advice in it!

So my advice (and something I would do better if I did it again) would be to fill a sack with things you want photographed. Things like programs, invitations, etc

It was a good tip to have things ready for the photographer so that you don't have to run around on the day and gather up your small items.

One of my clients is a first aid kit company, but i saw others put the first aid stuff in a parchment envelope with a cute lable ontop. I really don't remember which thread, but its a very economical way to put the items in. Otherwise Dollaramma and Walmart have these first aid kits.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
