Dreams La Romana

Hey there.

My dress is perfect for me. I had two choices originally but when I decided on a destination wedding, I knew it was the one. Empire waistline, chiffon.. I love it. Putting it on, my dress not the demo. Was amazing and made everything even more "real". I live with my FI and therefore the dress is hidden at a friends

I did get it in Vermont, but am doing all alterations here. I got it 11 weeks early, so I'm not freaking as of yet :P. I tried my veil on when the FI wasn't home, lol.... Can't wait for the day to put it all into use!!!

Hi Pink Petals,

Good luck with your vases...take Dana's advice and use ziploc bags to contain them, just in case.  IF something were to happen to them, I have no doubt that the resort would have replacements you could use...you may be able to work something out with them once you arrive, if need be.  It will all work out...don't worry about it.  I know, easier said than done, right?

As for Elke, I'm going to have her do our ceremony too...I know Sunandsand said how great she was, so I'm really looking forward to having her do it.

Nadia,

Best of luck on your big day!  I wish you and your fiancé lots of sunshine and happiness.  Like all the other brides-to-be, I can't wait to read your review.

Gaby,

Good luck with this weekend's party...here's hoping your guests enjoy themselves as much as those who went to your DLR wedding!

Dana,

How excited are you to have your dress?  You picked it up State side didn't you?  Did they do the alterations for you before you brought it over?  smile159.gif

I had my dress at home right after I bought it, until I finally brought it in to the seamstress, and I used to try it on all the time when no one was home...sad but true!  Each time I'd get something new, like shoes, earrings, necklace, etc, I'd put it on.  I have a fitting this Thursday and can't wait to see how it looks.  I bought it back in February for a steal, but I wanted the back changed from a zipper to a corset, so this will be my 1st time seeing it like this.  Can't wait to try it back on...and my best friend, who can't go away with us, will be joining me, so at least she'll get to see the dress when it's on.  sad.gif

I saw some of the brides were selling theirs because the Turks and Caicos resorts used real keys and not the electronic ones.

Thoughts? Advice? Did anyone actually use these? Were they worth the effort?

Good question! It was one of my DIYs

They use electronic key cards, side note you need to put one in to turn on the electric you'll see it on the wall as soon as you enter the room.

Dolfinluck... Thank you so much fir the wishes.... Quick question... Did you tip Elke for performing your ceremony; if so....how much?

I think i posted some where in this thread but I paid with a cc, didnt want to bring that much cash and just paid right before check out.  There was a slight difference in the total amount charged thought because they tell you the price in dollars then convert to pesos and then your cc converts back to dollars and in the end was charged a couple of dollars more b/c of different exchange rates, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things

I paid Elke $50 to do the ceremony (that is what Yanna suggested) but read of others that didnt.

Hi Hermosahoops...I dont really have time to do a planning thread....maybe when I get back I can put together the things I planned for the wedding?!?!

Dolfinluck; I think $50 is a good price...Yanna also suggested for me to give Elke a tip which is fine with me as Pastor Rick would have costed me sooo much more!

Anyway ladies...I am freaking out about that damn tropical storm/hurricane Earl which is heading for Dominican and Haitin this week....anyone has any news to share on this topic? sad.gif

Hey Bee,

AS for the tropical storm, when are you flying in?  Hopefully it "passes" by before then.

As for tipping, what did people do for Tiara/Yanna.  I'm having pastor Rick for my ceremony, so he's taken care of. Let me know...

hey girls,

just catching up after a few nightmare days of contact with Yanna, she told me that I now couldnt have 3pm for the ceremony and would have to wait until 5:30 but then told me it would be going dark around that time, and that also i couldnt use the gardens because of the other wedding - after much stressing i just received a new confirmation e-mail, ceremony at 3 - PHEW!!! have no idea what all the confusion was about but i forwarded the e-mails she sent me back to her so she could see that she had already said 3pm was fine, no acknowledgment of the e-mail i sent her, but i got the confirmation i was after - yay!

couple of questions: how did you guys decide who would do your ceremony, did Yanna/Tiara suggest someone or do you know if there is a specific person if you are having the ultimate package?

and i was also wondering if anyone is having/has had their hair/make up done at the spa and how it turned out or if anyone has made trial appointments??

best of luck to the brides to be, can't wait to read your reviews and see your piccies, hope everything is perfect for you!!!

have had a few e-mails off HDC as well, their pictures look amazing...so i'm very tempted...Yanna said in a previous e-mail that the photos would be during the ceremony, does anyone know if this is correct, i was assuming that they would hang around after the actual ceremony to have our pictures taken around the resort?!?!

Thanks ladies, sorry for all the questions...hope all your planning continues to go well!!!

Hi, girls! Thank you so much for all the well wishes about or party this weekend:) We can't wait and cannot believe it is here, already and that we left almost 2 months ago! Just please ladies, ENJOY EVERY MOMENT!!!!!!! So far, our party is getting crazier and bigger every day- which is a good thing:) It is at my mom-in-law's house and she is setting everything up just like we had it on the beach:) yeyeyey!!!!

NancM- thats great about your dress!!

Congrads katierenae!

I talked briefly with Elke when I went to get my hair done at the spa and she speaks really good english,  fyi.

I am praying for you, PP, that the storm passes! I think its supposed to be in the states by friday so I think you will be okay:)

hustyg, what kind of ceremony are you having? Also, I did go to the spa and I had Maria do my hair and makeup and nails- as well as hair and nails of my MOH's and she did an amazing job. I was nervous from past reviews of girls on here but everything turned out great:)

If you are talking about the photos you receive from the resort's wedding package then yes, they are only during the ceremony. If you purchase an HDC package, it depends on which one you choose as to how long they will stay.

Hey Hustyg,

You have lots of options. I am getting Pastor Rick York to do my ceremony. His cost is 300.00$ and you do not need to pay for a day pass (at least that is what I was told) because he is there less than an hour.

For HDC, like Gem says it depends on the package.  I got the first packaget at 699.00 I believe. I have their price list and I can email you. This included 3 hours. So before during ceremony and afterward. I asked what an extra hour would be and Arnaud told me 150$ which i'm still considering as i'm having a cocktail party and that will cover it up to the reception dinner.

As for the Reception, my family are photo maniacs so i'm not worried about that. We are buying a SLR regardles to give to certain people to take pictures. But I know HDC has packages for all night as well. This also includes prints and a digital cd of all the images.  You have to pay for a day pass for that photographer which I believe is 65$ I have it on my quotation but have to check at home.

I also have a variety of images sent to me of the hairstyles and the price list of the SPA.   I tried to book my appointments but Tiara said I can only do that around three months before the wedding. I know there is a wedding right after mine. (i'm getting married at 3 aswell) So I want to book that asap so I get in first ... lol battle of the brides!!! I can email you that as well... just send me a note to remind me.

Hey Bee,

Looked into the Hurricaine, its hitting the coast of Nagua, which is far away from La romana, and La Romana is in a peninsula.  I think everything is going to be a-ok, they are very good at cleaning up after these events too. So far no fatalities, just people in Nagua evacuating their homes and that was August 31st..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
