Hey there,

I was recommended www.wedo.com for all the paperwork, they quoted US$125 per person (with an additional $95 per person charge if previously married, for the translation of divorce certificate etc, and an additional $85 per document if you need to have anything translated - adoption certificates, parental authorisation etc etc)....however they said in their e-mail that prices do vary for other citizenships, so am just about to get a quote for UK citizens, will let you know if i hear back. Haven't looked for any UK based companies yet though!!

Hope this helps

It's been soo long since I posted on here, but I'm sure you'll all agree, that with 5 months to go until your wedding It's the worst time possible for your computer and laptop to explode due to horrible dodgy house wiring! ARGHHHHH!!!

Anyway, bought a new laptop today and just couldn't deal without coming here for a good look first!!!

I've got loads and loads to catch up on, but just though I'd ask a quick question (I'm sure it hasn't already been mentioned)

I know there's absolutely loads of paperwork to complete for the wedding in the Dominican, documents translated, legalised, certified etc....... Can anyone help recommending any companies who can provide the service at a decent cost?

Hi, ladies! Sorry I have posted in a while...my hubby and I have our celebration party this weekend and are busy planning that and getting everything ready:) We can't wait!

Congrads, Nadia!! Good luck and have an amazing time!!!!!

Good luck, dcairns with the shipping. I am sure the bubblewrap will be fine:)

hustyg, we had DJ Mannia nad he was great. But, I know some people do bring their own music and stuff and that is good, too. Yoiu can rent the resort's speakers for $250., I believe.

Krod, DJ Mannia charges $900. for 4 hours. I think he is definitely worth it because then you don't have to worry about the music- he takes care of everything. He follows your lead and platys whatever you want. He also did introductions for us and played some songs from a CD that we brought. Plus, he was actually there longer for us. He came around 4 (when the ceremony was starting) to set up. He played while we were all taking pics and then we even tipped him and he stayed till almost 11- which is the time it has to end, anyway.

PP, good luck with everything! When do you leave?

OH I wish you luck. I love what I did,but since I have time, i'm looking into alternative centerpiece ideas without glass.   Wicker Vases... baskets, who knows!!!!  WE just are considering it since we would send it down fedex.. ANYWAY, put them in bubblewrap then zip lock bag if possible. Just in case you don't want glass in your luggage.  You'll let me know how it goes as we are going on Sunwing as well.

Hi Pink Petals,

Good luck with your vases...take Dana's advice and use ziploc bags to contain them, just in case.  IF something were to happen to them, I have no doubt that the resort would have replacements you could use...you may be able to work something out with them once you arrive, if need be.  It will all work out...don't worry about it.  I know, easier said than done, right?

As for Elke, I'm going to have her do our ceremony too...I know Sunandsand said how great she was, so I'm really looking forward to having her do it.

Nadia,

Best of luck on your big day!  I wish you and your fiancé lots of sunshine and happiness.  Like all the other brides-to-be, I can't wait to read your review.

Gaby,

Good luck with this weekend's party...here's hoping your guests enjoy themselves as much as those who went to your DLR wedding!

Dana,

How excited are you to have your dress?  You picked it up State side didn't you?  Did they do the alterations for you before you brought it over?  smile159.gif

I had my dress at home right after I bought it, until I finally brought it in to the seamstress, and I used to try it on all the time when no one was home...sad but true!  Each time I'd get something new, like shoes, earrings, necklace, etc, I'd put it on.  I have a fitting this Thursday and can't wait to see how it looks.  I bought it back in February for a steal, but I wanted the back changed from a zipper to a corset, so this will be my 1st time seeing it like this.  Can't wait to try it back on...and my best friend, who can't go away with us, will be joining me, so at least she'll get to see the dress when it's on.  sad.gif

We also used Elke, i believe i was one of the first, i have it in my review but anyways it was great option and would do it again.  I gave Yanna the script and she past it long to Elke.

BTW, i brought my sand ceremony glasses in my carry-on there and back and had no problems but flew out of the states.

Well girls, I just bit the bullet and sent off my wedding request form for Nov. 2011!!!!!  So excited and scared to death at the same time!  Everyone says the hardest part is choosing a resort so I want to thank all the past brides for your detailed reviews and pictures...they were what helped me pick Dreams La Romana after months and months of research and "lurking" in this thread LOL.

Time to hit the elliptical I guess!!

Good luck Pink Petals....can't wait to see your pics :)

I'd love to know how much to tip Elke as well. Pink_Petals, please let us know how she was once you get back. I can't wait to read your review!!

Did you do a planning thread? It might be useful so you can see one final time what you are bringing with you, and see how far you've come since the engagement.

Congratulations and have a blast!

Does anyone know if DLR does electronic keys, or if they have real metal keys? I am looking at purchasing ID holders and lanyards for my guests, but I don't want to go to the effort if they won't work or be the wrong size. I saw some of the brides were selling theirs because the Turks and Caicos resorts used real keys and not the electronic ones.

Thoughts? Advice? Did anyone actually use these? Were they worth the effort?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
