I wrote to her and told her I was not happy about the changes and that I do not need to be surprised by this!!! In the long run, its still cheaper for me than going with the silver menu.  My fiance told me to wait and see how its really set up. NONE of my guest have a problem with walking outside to get a drink at another bar.. but I don't know if there is one near enough.

Pink Petals, did you do the Silver menu and on top of that rent the SSG for 1000$$ IF so if she makes you pay more then i would seriously raise a stink!!!!   Maybe check out the SSG and the bar outside (before you meet up with her and pay) to see if its a big deal just walking outside.

dcairns,

There are 2  options:

a) Rent out the SSG deck for a fixed price of $1000 + tax where your guests pick off the SSG regular menu which you are doing.

B) You can go with the special wedding menu (silver in my my case) and you pay per person $30/person +tax (thats the one Im going with)

I contacted Tiara....so starting July 19th, indeed, for both options you have to pay for the bar service now ($10/ person + tax)

However, she said that since I booked the resort at the beginning of this year, they are forced to honor the original quotation

I couldn't agree more!!!!!  This constant changing in prices, times, etc...is beginning to wear very thin!  I just sent Tiara and Yanna an email since neither of them have responded to our last one that was sent on June 14th.  We were given the original rate back in April of this year which DID include drinks and menu, so this price difference is not sitting well with me AT ALL.  We went with the "free" package but it's becoming more and more ridiculous at every corner...need a dirty martini!  :)

We'll see if either Tiara or Yanna get back to me...I'll let you know what I'm told.

Hey,

She replied back to me and said that since I booked the resort early in the year, they will honor the original quotation they gave me...since you booked it all the way in April, Im sure you will be ok :)

xoxo Lemme kno what she says

SSG Grill Interior Wedding Set UP

Well ladies, i don't know what to say, like I said, in my case its still affordable but I won't abide any big changes other than that. I booked in June of this year and by April things better not change. Bar service is very important for my family... so i'm willng to bend on that. I'm sure its not her but the hotel. She's been very helpful with me. ANYWAY... TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING NICE.. this is the photo (i just figured out how to put it in my post) of the interior of the SSG. I will be using the different color linens though..

Dcairns.... Thank you soooooo much for that pic of the interior of the SSG!!! I'm having my reception on the SSG deck and I was worried what would happen if it rained outside since I bought so much stuff to bring down with me! I'm gonna message Tiara to see if the inside of the SSG would be an option in case of rain!!!

Thanks again

xoxo

P.s. The changes in prices are def. not Tiara's fault but the resort's! I know it's easy to blame her since we interact directly with her but Tiara has been amazing!!! She tries to answer everyones questions while at the same time spending a whole day making brides' weddings as perfect as possible! :)

P Petals and Dana-- I feel your pain!!  Can you imagine how I feel with the prospect of paying $10 pp with over 90 guests attending?!!!  I'm not pleased at all!  I booked back in November of last year so I really hope that she honours that pricing as well (since this will make a BIG difference to me!)

Also, for those that are wondering how close the bar is, it's less than 25meters from the SSG.  Literally, you leave the deck, turn right and walk about 30-40 paces and it's on your left hand side.  I don't think that they'd actually prevent your guests from ordering there if they weren't preferred club... especially since it's soooooooo close to the SSG to begin with!

There isn't a preferred bar by the SSG, I think you're thinking of the Veranda bar, which is open to all guests. You're right though, it is about 30seconds walk from the deck, however it can get quite busy in the evenings as it's right beside Portofino and Bordeoux so anyone with a pager waiting to go into either of these restaurants tends to use this bar.

(For reference, the Preferred bar is up beside the preferred pool between block 5 and 7)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
