Hi everyone, I got quoted the $3 + 26% as well for the beach reception. Not sure about reserving the restaurant though. I think that was only the $1000 + 26% service charge.

Lizzy, sorry to hear about your troubles. I guess our supposedly "simpler" destination weddings have their problems as well. Hopefully everything works out!

Hi folks, thanks so much for all your support. We are going to have a ball, with the people who are going. Tony is the best thing that has ever happened to me and we have a really good life together, I am very close to his three kids. I think this is all down to jealousy and as you said they will regret it in the end.

Gem its sooo mad that we're both in the same situation, and we're going to be there at the same time!!!! We can have a wee drink and compare notes lol

I was upset until a guy in work told me he had paid for his daughter to get married abroad and two weeks before they went her h2b walked out on her and their baby, no explanation nothing. So wedding was cancelled and he lost £15000!!! It made me realise I'm not so bad after all, I have still got the love of my life and we can get through anything together. I just thought for any of you stressing it might also help you to know there is always someone in a worse position, it helped me appreciate the good instead of focusing on the bad.

On the bright side I can now have my wedding and meal in the gazebo as there are now only 10 of us going. I have emailed Tiara to ask about the gazebo and prices but as per norm she has yet to reply lol

Does anyone know what charges I will occur by having meal in gazebo? I am stealing (sorry) the lanterns idea and putting battery tea lights in them, and I thought it would be beautiful sitting in the gazebo eating with lanterns lit up.

Also this may sound odd but the world cup is on while we are there, my friends and family are all mad about football, and there will be a riot if the cannot see the matches. Does anybody know if they have a tv room and sky, again I've asked Tiara but no reply.

Sorry for long post xoxo

$3 + 26%?! I sware, every day there is another thing to pay for....

LJ, we definitely will need to have a drink when we see each other! lol :) We will be so happy and excited that we are finally there that we will forget about all of the troubles and heartbreak and just celebrate!! And your reception in the gazebo sounds beautiful!! =0)

I have an email from Tiara where I specifically asked her if there would be an extra cost to have a bartender for after our reception (for the dancing part) and she said no and that there would be servers to serve us drinks. I will be very upset when we get there if there is suddenly a charge for this! I will be printing and bringing all of my emails for sure!

I asked Tiara about this and am pretty sure you just have to pay for the private reception so either the silver or gold menu and pay that price, plus kids under 12 are half price.

This extra cost could because they have the free wedding package, b/c Tiara told me for both the cocktail hour and reception that "Regarding your concern about the drinks, the alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are included in the Dreams Of Love Package."

If you at the SSG and dont want to pay the extra cost, I'm trying to remember Nadia's review but i believe there is a bar right there.

Hi girls, this might have already been talked about, so I apologize if this is a repost.

My FI and I are debating between DPC and DLR for our wedding site. The FI loves the huge pool from DPC, but I'm not sold on the actual beach. I love crystal clear turquoise water, and I'm seeing in a lot of pics of DPC that the water looks pretty dark and rocky in spots. DLR beach pictures look better in some pics, but not others. I need your help!

If you have any opinions on the beaches between the two locations, please share!

Thanks so much,

Shannon

Train, I was in Punta Cana last year, although not actually in the Dreams resort, but fi and I walked the full length of the beach and it was beautiful, not dark or murkey anywhere. Although I have not been to La Romana our travel agent who has been all round DR says Bayahibe is the best beach in the whole Dominican. I hope that helps.

Thanks for that Dolphin luck, I may have to change my mind then, cos I actually didn't go for the silver or gold menu, as myself and the kids are quite picky eaters, I was kind of hoping as its right beside the SSG that we could pay a service charge and eat from their menu.

Jenne, I have done that too, I have copies of all contracts and correspondance glued into a wedding book!!! Tiara has definately given some of us different answers and I'm taking no chances lol

Gem I am really looking forward to meeting up with you and Andrea, so good that 3 of us will be there at same time.

Maybride sorry to hear about your mum, she'll be watching over you making sure it all goes well

Hey ladies,

I should know better than to be away from the forum for a couple of days. I'm always playing catch-up. Lizzy and Gem, I'm so sorry you're having issues. I've been pretty lucky with my family. The only person who's giving me a huge hassle is my so-called best friend who has made every excuse in the book to not even talk about the wedding ... she had a baby in the fall and is worried that there could be another world-wide flue epidemic. And God forbid I mention that she leave the toddler for a few days so she and her husband could come. I swear she thinks she's the first woman ever to have had a baby.

All this after I threw 2 showers for her wedding and paid crazy money to go to NYC for her staggette. Whatever. I've stopped talking to her about it altogether. My fiance and kids will be there and everyone else is just a bonus.

As far as the bar costs. I'm fairly certain that is only for the beach because they don't have a bar open on the beach in the evening. Those of us renting the SSG will not pay extra.

I'm getting married on the beach and we thought of tikki torches too but then realized it won't be dark yet so it will look odd. I just bought tons of starfish so I will put those on the back of chairs and my mom is going to make some sashes and that will be that.

We'll also get the wooden arch for $350 and decorate it ourselves.

Amy, I'm so excited that your day is coming up so quickly!

Hi Girls,

So I had an interesting night last night thanks to Tiara sad.gif

So after confirming over the phone numerous times and via e-mail that September 10th 2010 would be my wedding date (even though I would be in Dominican Republic only 3 days and not 4), Tiara finally sent me my official written confirmation for my wedding date BUT for the 11th!!!

I went crazy when I saw this; I had already booked my Photographer and Videographer for the 10th. And knowing how long it usually takes her to answer back, I was really worried.

So I wrote to her to change it to the 10th...then had to write back to my photographer that I might have to switch it to the 11th.

So you can just imagine what I felt like during those hours until I would receive a reply back from them.

Miraculously, she wrote back within the same night...As others have mentioned on this forum, putting "URGENT" in the title of the e-mail gets you faster responses from her.

So then I check the e-mail again, and she had changed the ceremony time...I dont want to become a bridezilla but if we decided on September 10 2010 at 4:00p.m., why cant she just keep it like that? So then of course I wrote back to her and she finally made all the right changes. Then I wrote to my photographer/videographer and told to ignore the last e-mail I had sent. smile36.gif

So now I read on the forum that you have to pay additional $ to be served alcohol? I want to reserve the patio at the SSG so I was going to pay for the menu per person, but I thought this included the drinks as well!

I will let some time pass and I will ask Tiara about it.

xoxo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
