Dreams La Romana

I was just wanting to know where your lantern battery operated? Also did the hotel staff hang them for you that day? They are gorgeous really hope you don't mind that I might steel your idea, my theme is hot pink and black, and I think the lanterns would be really nice in pink and black. And so different to the normal flowers.

Woohoo! Someone just pointed out to me that my ticker is now down to DAYS rather than months! WOW

All my guests are getting so excited... every day a new person texts or emails the countdown... LOL

Liane - I got FI a watch - he picked it out last month in Cali and I have hidden it away since we got back (I think he forgot about it already!)

I have no idea what to ask/suggest him to get me... maybe a necklace if I decide to wear one.

I got my BMs super deluxe OOT bags and gave them to them at the shower (so they wouldn't purchase any of the items I put in there) they were a huge hit!!!

We're thinking of buying the attire for the GMs and I got them passport holders... that was left up to FI and he is so busy with work he hasn't even decided if he wants to give anything else!! :/

There's a pretty long thread about this somewhere too with lots of good ideas...

I'm getting FI a watch as well, he picked out the one he likes and will be buying it next month. We have become really good friends with the manager at the jewelery store we go to and she lets us know when the big sales are coming and even gives us a little bit extra off. We saved over $1000 on the wedding bands because of her. As for the wedding party I bought all of their outfits for the wedding for them and might also buy them something small if I find something I like. Plus they are also getting a towel and mug that everyone else will be getting for the OOT bags. As for my parents I am thinking of getting them a couples massage at the resort for their gift.

Hey, girls! I haven't written in a while...been super busy trying to get everything done! Wow, I really thought planning a wedding on a resort was easier than one here, but I was wrong! lol:)

My dress came in last week and I am going for my first fitting this Saturday!! yey:)

Is anyone else having their ceremony or reception on the Beach? We are having both (hopefully) and I just wanted to know what kind of decorations to have. The arch seems like a little much for us. Also, didn't someone say in an earlier post that if we do it on the beach that we have to have a buffet dinner? Because I asked Tiara and she said it is recommended for more than 50 guests...which we will probably only have like 20-25.

Oh, Lizzyjane, Tiara emailed me back about the florists and said they are all pretty expensive because they are like half an hour from the resort...boo. I might just wait till we get there to figure that stuff out or bring fake ones for the girls to carry.

Also, this is a personal question so no one feel like they have to answer it...but is anyone else having an issue with close family members not wanting to come?

Thanks, guys! Oh, and congrads Bridget!! You looked beautiful!!

I forgot something....

Congrads to the newbies!!

And as for wedding gifts, I too am getting my groom a watch...I figured I want to get him something nice because it's our wedding and our 10 year anniversary:) As for my girls, I am either thinking a personalized tote bag or a coach wristlet...not sure yet.

For the guests we are going to have printed insulated mugs for their drinks and picture souvenirs at the reception.

Oh, and I am going to make up wedding week survival kits for the wedding party...lol...filled with aspirin and pepto and aloe and stuff:) Is anyone doing welcome bags?

Thanks Gem for letting me know about the flowers I think I will get real touch ones too as I refuse to pay $75 for a few gerbera daisies.

As for the family not wanting to come, I have cried all week over that one. My only sister was supposed to be my maid of honnor, her daughter was to be one of my bridesmaids, and her son was supposed to give me away as my dad has not spoke to me for 6 years (because of an argument my sister and I had). I had bought all their dresses and shoes, paid a £200 deposit for her, her husband, my mum who lives with her, and her two kids on her request. We sat last Thursday night and discussed how she wanted to wear her hair. Then on Friday morning she sent me an email to tell me none of them are going anymore, when I asked why she said there are a few reasons, thats it. I was understandably upset but now she has twisted everything and I've had my mum dad everyone having a go at me. Plus I've lost £1000 in deposits, and I have not one member of my family going to be there for my wedding. I tried to cancel it but can't I would loose too much money. I can't use the same dresses as my neice would be devastated if she saw photos of my step daughters in the dress she was going to wear, and they feel tainted now.

Who said getting married on the beach was the easier option lol BangHead.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
