Dreams La Romana

Recommended Posts

I went to the Dominican Consulate in Toronto today. We did all our paperwork directly with them. They charged us 840.00 USD total. We both had divorce papers so that adds to the price. I asked them about WE DO, I was told that they don't get each document translated and legalized, they take them all, summarize the information and translate the summary. Then send them to the Dominican consulate for legalization. The lady at the Consulate said some resorts will accept this. Obviously, Dreams does accept this as Tiara recommends WE DO. I am just glad we have the paperwork taken care of.

I had asked Tiara awhile ago when she needed the paperwork at her end and this is what she sent me:

I will be taking care of the documentation with the Dominican Consulate. How far in advance do you need to receive these papers? (Tiara D.) At least 15 days prior your arrival.

Jennifer,
I was told to email or fax the paperwork to Tiara. Do not mail as it may not get there. I was told this by the Consulate not by Tiara. I will email Tiara now to make sure this is acceptable. I will let you know when I hear something from her. Hopefully, I hear from her right away.

Does anyone know the best way to travel with wedding dress? I would like to take as carry on... but do they allow this with all the new rules? Do we need to call in advance? Any suggestionshuh.gif?
Try looking on your airline's website. I don't know who you are flying through, but we are flying Air Canada and it tells you on their site for baggage allowance what you can do with the wedding dress. It says it can be your carry on but has to be folded over and put in the overhead storage.

So we got our documents back today from the Dominican Embassy! We sent them on Monday, March 8th by regular mail from Thunder Bay to Ottawa so it only cost about $2.00 to send there and back and got them back in 2 weeks! That was quick :)

Hi Jenne,

Dear Liane:

You can fax it or email me the information. The fax number is 809-221-8881

Hi I was having that problem too, as the airline said I couldn't bring it on as hand luggage but I want my dress with me. My beautician got married in seychelles last year and she got a wedding dress travel box. it is the perfect size for hand luggage and her dress maker folded her dress into it with tissue paper. She was able to carry it ( it has a rope handle) the whole way to seychelles. She said that when she lifted her dress out when she got therte, it was perfect no creases in it. She is kindly lending me her box but they are available on the internet.

Hey ladies, sorry I've come so late into the ceremony discussion.

I have emailed Tiara and she has agreed to "MC" the symbolic ceremony for free.

I will give her a list of names and she will welcome the guests at the beginning of the ceremony and then call out the different speakers (my sister-in-law, my mother-in-law, etc.) who will do readings. Then my fiance and I will say our personal vows and Tiara will "announce us husband and wife."

Since we will already be married at that point (although noone will know), this will not be a lie on her part.

It seems like a better option than having to pay someone at the resort.

Also I asked about the cost of the wooden canopy or "huppa." She responded that it's $350 US undecorated. I have asked for the dimensions so I will probably take some flowing cloth with me to add and I've also bought tons of starfish that I will put on the back of the chairs and also on the sides of the canopy, maybe with a palm leaf.

I was inspired by this http://www.dreamsresorts.com/dretu/i...ding_pic02.gif, although my colours will only be white (and beige for the starfish & raffia).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
