What do you guys think? What would you choose to serve?

Also, has anyone seen the DLR fan page on facebook? There looks to be a couple February brides on there - I wish they would come to BDW to share their experiences! cheesy.gif
hi amygirl, I'd love to see the ssg menu but it won't let me look at it for some reason. would you be able to sent it to me at [email protected].

Hi Everyone:

I'm finally back and my apologies for not being able to communicate with you during the week, I had so many things that came up, plus I was unable to access my account becasue I couldn't remember my password!

I'm attaching the first overview of DLR that I've put together. Hopefully, I can keep adding an additional one each evening this week. If you have problems opening this just let me know.

Thanks,

Nadia

**okay, I've tried 3 times now to post the attachment

1st in its full form

2nd I divided it in half (in case it was too large)

3rd I divided it into 3 (and still a no go!!)

Can someone who is more PC savy than myself send me their e-mail address and then I'll send it to you to post on my behalf? [email protected]

Much appreciated!

Thanks Amy,

I sent them to you and in the process I think I figured out the problem. The document was REALLY large!! I was really hoping to intertwine pictures with the narrative but I might just have to send all the pics first and then try and explain after!?

I'm sure between the two of us we can make it work!

Thanks again for your help.

Ok, I don't think I'll be able to upload these sized files, so I'll just post a regular post on Nadia's behalf with the pictures uploaded from PhotoBucket.

So here goes ladies, enjoy!

POST #1:

Hi Everyone!

Iâ€ve had quite the week but Iâ€ll spare you the long story and skip right to the juicy details!

I met with Tiara, she is a LOVELY young lady and SUPER busy! I now understand why she barely has time to answer our e-mails! For the record, she does not have an assistant but has asked many times to no avail, to be given one.

Anyhow, for those of you who were still feeling unsure about your choice of DLR, let me reassure you that you will NOT regret your choice for one moment!! The resort is simply breathtaking!! I feel that Iâ€m qualified to make this statement considering I have attended weddings at both Dreams Palm Beach and Dreams Punta Cana—DLR is without a doubt the BEST of the three.

Now to be fair, I will address the ONLY issues that I thought were so-so but certainly not deal breakers.

First, the lobby; the phrase “never judge a book by its cover†comes to mind. The lobby is unimpressive, a little small, a little dark but entirely sufficient for what you need it for (check in-check out). If you allow the lobby to influence what you feel the rest of the resort should look like…you are guaranteed to be knocked flat on your back with awe! I felt like I was entering an entirely different world when I exited the lobby…beauty, grandiose grounds and just overall perfection!!

Second, as you exit the lobby there is a temporary concert size stage smack in front of you! (will attach picture in the next overview I do)—Anyhow, it was Kind of like the ones youâ€d see at the park in the summer for concerts. I was a bit taken aback by this monstrosity when I first saw it but when I spoke to Tiara (and a few guests) about it they all told me how wonderful the shows had been that were performed there…PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ENTERTAINMENT (This is unheard of in the DR…trust me on this one!)

Okay, onto other stuff. First I want to discuss the Wedding Gazebo. All I can say is OMG!!! I actually started crying when I saw it!! It is tucked away quite nicely, across from the preferred club buildings and just behind the back of the SSG. Of all of the possible wedding locations on the resort, this one is the most private.

The gazebo is HUGE, and the view is stunning, whether youâ€re sitting down (guests) or standing up (bride and groom). There is plenty of room for chairs if youâ€re having a big wedding (easily fit 100-150 or more). My only caution are the white stones. They are NOT pebbles so be careful what type of shoe or no shoe that you wear because it was a little tricky to walk on. (Wedge or platform would be best I think…but a heel might also give you an anchor by piercing through the stones right to the ground.)

POST #2:

Facing the gazebo to the right of it there is a Jacuzzi tub (a little hidden as it is closer to the water and lower down – height wise). There is also a massage hut which again can easily be concealed as not to take away from the beauty of the gazebo setting. To the left of the gazebo is just more greenery and a landscaping including two large vases.

POST #3:

Again, the SSG is just a short walk (less than 2 minutes) away from the gazebo. You can follow one of the white stoned paths that take you alongside the sea and up to the side entrance of the SSG. The pathway has a small sign that says “walk at your own risk” but it is perfectly safe.

As an aside, Tiara recently got married October 2009 and she had her ceremony at the gazebo and reception at the SSG (120 guests in total!). She had a DJ, Dinner and dancing on the SSG, a cake & ice cream station and few other treats for her guests. She also brought her own photographer (but used the resort photographer for a few shots—after all, she still works there!)

Anyway, here are some SSG shots:

This is looking at where you would walk coming from the Gazebo (you have to take two steps up from the mini garden t hat you walk through) it brings you to this concrete landing, which is the side entrance for the SSG.

The deck is in pretty good condition and the gaps between the planks aren’t too large that the females in your group will problems with their heels!

Tiara says that you can seat 100-120 on the deck but that you wouldn’t have room for dancing if you go with the higher end of those numbers. She had some of her guests on the upper part to allow for dancing on the deck.

The SSG is open concept but still has a solid roof that is hidden by the billowing bits of fabric. So no worries for rain…although I’m not sure what you’d do for dancing if you were planning on using the deck! (which is uncovered).

There is a bar that will serve your drinks ( $5 service fee for any outside bottle that is not theirs) . The bar is also accessible by other guests as this is part of what is referred to as “common areas.”

Tiara said that if you are having a cocktail hour (6-6:30 or 7pm) that you would still have this area to yourself as dinner in the nearby restaurants do not start until 7pm.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
