Wow girls, I miss a day and I missed so many posts! Hope everyone's weekend is going well.

So, I get emails from BeachBody which is where my P90X dvd's are from. They give some interesting info on all sorts of topics from exercise to eating to drinking water etc. I was thinking of copying and pasting some of the info into the thread once in a while. I think its from a pretty reliable source. What do you guys think? I don't want to 'spam' the thread if the group doesn't think its beneficial. I will go and copy and paste now just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Give me a sec...

So, sometimes its Q & A, like this...

1. "I'm eating at a large calorie deficit and exercising really hard, yet the scale isn't moving. What gives?

Plateau, huh? Ninety-nine percent of the time, it's one of two things. If you're not dropping pounds, yet your inches are changing for the positive, odds are you are actually losing fat but also gaining muscle. That's what's balancing out the scale.

I know it's a frustrating situation, but if you've been looking in the mirror or putting on clothes, you've probably noticed that you're looking better and your clothes are fitting looser, so it's not all bad.

When this happens, I've found that approximately week 6 is the magic time when the scale starts moving, so hang in there, tiger!

The other probable cause is that you're undereating, which can force your body into starvation mode.

Back in the days when folks hunted and gathered, there were no 7-Elevens. Because of this, people sometimes had to go for days with little or no food. According to Darwin, people who survived these times of famine were the people who, well, survived these times of famine. And in order to do this, their bodies adapted by slowing down their metabolisms and holding onto emergency fuel supplies (aka "fat") during lean times. This is starvation mode.

Almost every time I tell someone to eat more to knock out a plateau, I get an argument because people who've lost weight by eating less have trouble adjusting their mindsets. But as your body composition changes, you have to eat to support it. If I can finally turn them around, the scale almost always starts moving again.

And, sometimes it tips like this...

1. If you know you are going to an event or gathering, eat something before you go. Eat a balanced, small healthy meal before you leave the house. Or have a large apple in the car on the way there. Then you won't be so hungry and might not be so tempted.

2. If the food all looks good and is tempting -- allow yourself to sample a bite of everything. Just a bite! You'll feel satisfied.

3. Or you could allow yourself a small serving of your fave food there (that would be potato salad for me!) and then fill the rest of your plate with healthy things like, grilled chicken, veggies and dip, etc. Then you ate healthy AND you had a little treat. Not to bad, eh?

It can be done, it is just a matter of having the right mindset going in. Remember, too, that the main focus of these gatherings is to enjoy being with friends and family. The food is secondary to that, always.

Some of this stuff we probably already know, but could maybe use a reminder. Then there are articles on things like, what exactly is in your bottled water etc.

So, let me know if you think its helpful and I can pick and choose some things to post once a week or something.

Hey Ladies

Kelly I like the tips, are you gonna post them in here or on their own threadhuh.gif

So I went to the Chinese buffet and ate pretty healthy tonite. I'm also ab to create my shopping list for the supermarket (I go on Mondays). What are you ladies favorite healthy snacks? I work from home 2 days a week then I'm on the road and in and out of the office 3 days a week so I'm looking for healthy items to munch on that can stay n my car or just around the house. Thanks in advance.

Oh I also plan to go to Planet Fitness Monday. I love that they have the 30 min circuit (I'm a former Curves member who lost no significant wieght there). So I plan to do the circuit as well as treadmills and eliptical machines.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
