Flamingo Beach Resort?

Hi! My fiance and I are beginning to entertain the idea of a Costa Rica wedding! I have never been, so I'm pretty green when it comes to Costa Rica locations (no pun intended). I've recently begun looking at two places that have peaked my interest:

Costa Verde - in Manuel Antonio

Flamingo Beach Resort - in Guanacaste

I've also heard about Cala Luna & Hotel Diria in Tamarindo, but the other two are my favorite so far. Does anyone have any feedback regarding any of these resorts? My wedding will likely be around 50-60 people...I really just want a fun, relaxed beach weekend that I can spend with my closest friends/family! I dont want to have to stress about coordination or travel or any of that...

I've worked at both Costa Verde and Flamingo Beach Resort.

Costa Verde is not on the beach. It's up a mountain and has a spectacular view. If you want to get married on the beach in Mn. Antonio you will have to have hire transportation to get your guests around. This is true for most hotels in the area. This a very hilly town and beach access is not easy from many hotels.

Flamingo is right across the street from the beach and has some awesome sunsests. It is a great beach and not nearly as populated as Mn. Antonio.

Cala Luna and the Diria are both popular places where having a beach wedding would be fairly easy.

I have a couple of suggestions for you.
Flamingo Beach Resort: Nice but it is right on the busy beach street. Weekends locals park their cars in front of the hotel. If you are planning a wedding here take this into consideration. It will be hard to have an intimate celebration. Look at your tide charts, if it is high tide, you will be in the front lawn of the hotel with cars blocking the beach view.

Costa Verde:
Beautiful views. But you will have to get transported to the beach for your ceremony and sunset photos. They have a great events center for larger weddings.

Tamarindo Diria:

Right on the main public beach. You will have many tourists and locals walking past you ceremony or people around you on theri beach towels, etc.

Cala Luna:

Quiet. private. It is not on the beach, but steps to it. Walk thru a path to the point. Great location for weddings. Have you looked at Paradisus Playa Conchal? They are right at the beach, the location is private and scenic.

Hi there!

I have visited Costa Rica many times as my sister lives there. This past Christmas we stayed at the Flamingo. Very nice hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful! It is a smaller area but we loved that! There is a road in between the resort and the beach so keep that in mind but if you were having a wedding later on in the day around sunset the traffic isn't bad. Because of the number of guests, depending on what you like, if you chose Flamingo you would all be very close to each other..keep in mind as well there is only one restaurant at the resort.

Let me know if you have any more questions! I have been many times so anything I can do to help let me know!

Hi- We orginally were getting married in Puerto Vallarta and recently made the decision to switch locations. We have decided Costa Rica is the perfect place!! I have narrowed it down to a couple hotels and Flamingo is one of them. It looks like it has been updated and although there is only one restaurant, the menu looks really good. My concern is that it is too small (we both come from divorced families) I love the paradisus but it is way to $$ for our guests. We have never been to Costa Rica before so any reccommendations would help. I'm looking for suggestions in the guanacaste area since it's pretty close to LIR and easy for ppl to travel. Big pool area and beach are two musts for the FI. For our honeymoon i'd love to go to manuel antonio.

Any feedback is much appriciated!

Val

Try getting a group price a Conchal, negotiate! Use the leverage of bringing a group down. For families Conchal is great, lots of activities for your kids, you can enjoy yourselves without worrying about them. Flamingo will get small quickly for you. Try the Tamarindo Diria, right on the beach (right in the middle) and right in town, the only downfall is the busy beach but would be kind of the same in Flamingo. For your honeymoon, Arenas del Mar in Manuel Antonio or Buena Vista Villas in Tulemar.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
