December 2009 Brides!

Recommended Posts

We started with our STD in February and still only have 27. so don't be so discouraged. And to get the held rate people had to book by may 1 which is why we have 27. We still have people who have rsvp'd and not booked and have people who have not rsvp'd despite the May 15 return by date. And we invited almost 160 too. keep your chin up. :)

I have completed the following:
1) booked our flights/hotel for wedding & honeymoon in Belize
2) sent out save the dates
3) bought dress
4) finished wedding website
5) started collecting things for OOT
6) decided on color pallete

But I am concerned that I see tons of brides who have 25 ppl booked or more by now, and I only have about 6-8 ppl booked. I sent out STD to about 160 ppl.
I'm a little worried, but is there anything I can really do? I can't make people pay their deposits.
Any recommendations Dec Brides!?
I only have a handful booked at this point too. I am not going to be concerned until 2 months out....

Jillian- We have the same wedding date!! It's actually also my FI's parents wedding anniversary and they have been together for 27 years so I guess it's good luck!

As for people booking, I only have about 10 out of 63 people booked. We put down $50 deposits for all 63 people and as long as they pay the balance by August 4th they can book with our low rate. I am not worried because our TA will be sending out an email this week letting them all know that if their hotel rooms are not booked by Aug 4th then they will not get the discounted rate. If you don't have a TA, you could just send out a mass email giving everyone a deadline for your rate. Since we booked through Apple Vacations, if people do not book, their $50 deposit is not lost, it is just rolled into my FI and I's room cost so we don't lose anything!

Where are you girls all going for your honeymoon? Are you staying at the same resort for two weeks or switching it up?

Right now we are booked to stay two weeks at the same resort b/c most of our guests come fri-fri (including us) but some will be there until sunday so we want to stay there with them. Then another part of us wants to go somewhere else but it adds on another$2000 or so to do that cause the second week when staying at the same resort is always cheaper.

I have always wanted to go to Pars (only been to other parts of Europe) and I am not counting the stay in Mexico as the Honeymoon :) I wouldn't mind Turkey but my FI doesn't really love that idea. Still up in the air. You are so lucky you have all the destination weddings for you and your friend!

holy crap! We have a destination wedding next year in halifax but so far thats it!

I LOOOVED Paris and would love to go back, great choice!! Im glad to hear you guys are doing the two weeks at the same resort too. I really want to 'jump across' the ocean to greece after the wedding in halifax (cheaper to fly from there than from calgary) for our honeymoon. Just trying to convince FI wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
