But girl when you visit (YAY your honeymoon is so close!!!woot.gif) you should definitely check their cafe out -- the food is so good and their baked goods are excellent!! Here's the link to their website: "Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery", Akumal, Riviera Maya, Mexico, full service restaurant
nice :) i actually looked them up on tripadvisor today and look what i found!

TripAdvisor Popularity Index:
#1 of 20 restaurants in Akumal
Cuisines: American
Price range*: $25-$195
Recommended For: Breakfast/Brunch
Address: Plaza Ukana, Akumal 77770, Mexico
Phone: 984-875-9138
Website: "Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery", Akumal, Riviera Maya, Mexico, full service restaurant

“Heard this was the place for breakfast in Akumal and we were not disappointed! The crab cake benedict was just what I wanted. The hollandaise was good and with a hint of spice I could not name. My friend had crispy tortillas under huevos rancheros with tasty beans and sour cream. Upon tasting our first bites we both went "mmm" at the same time.
We sat in the large, open air palapa and chatted with an American now living in Akumal, working and helping with spay and neuter programs. The cafe sometimes does benefits for programs there. The wait staff was busy, efficient and polite. We left a big tip and a "Muy Rico!" to let them know how much we did like it, in case they missed our obvious pleasure.

According to their website, breakfast is served 7am-12, lunch 12-3pm daily and dinner Tuesday - Saturday 6-9pm. Also the bakery is available for wedding cakes. They offer free wi-fi for patrons.
We each had coca lites and jugo de pinas and our total was about $20. Very well spent. I highly recommend The Turtle Bay Cafe!”

You get there by veering to the left as you come through the “front gate” of Akumal. Its in a little cluster of restaurants and shops.

so yes we will for SURE be going there in about 12 days, give or take wink.gif there were 5 reviews (i think) on TA and they were all good, except for one food snob wink.gif hehehe

I think Jac was referring to Lol Ha ~ Akumal's most well-known restaurant. And I heard the food there is delish too!!!

As far as my wedding locale, here's the thread I posted a llllooong time ago with all the details rolleyes.gif http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t31355

We are spending our first week in Akumal, renting the Casa Romero Compound (the villa and the Blue Tang and French Angel townhomes for about 30 immediate family members here) on Yal Ku Lagoon ~ super excited!!! elefant.gif Here's that link: Casa Romero: Akumal villa, Yal ku lagoon, Riviera Maya, Mexico

Oh and our second week will be spent at the Grand Mayan Resort on the Riviera Maya. Aaah can't wait!!!

And YES Abs, the owners of TBC are so sweet -- Jen and Bart. You MUST eat there breakfast, lunch or dinner is fantastic!!! And yep, they got free WI-FI woot woot woot.gif

LOL. The snack palapa is known as snack palapa or the north palapa and is part of the Lol-Ha restaurant. Not actually the Lol-Ha restaurant. Here are some pics of the palapa, it's not really a snack "hut" per say:

Joe and I are staying in the villa-taj kumal Taj Kumal: Akumal vacation rental villa, beach front house

AAAHHH can't wait!

And our guests are staying at the hotel akumal caribe. They have some bungalows not far off the beach. The bungalows have BBQ's so everyone wants to stay there so we can cook our own food.

MarieSam - I'm just in the beginning stages of planning my wedding (not till next year) but we're going to have ours in Akumal, and I've been in contact with Jenn about catering and having her plan it... how's your experience with her been so far? Where in Akumal are you having your wedding? We're doing ours at one of three villas (I can't decide!) and Jen seems to be pretty helpful so far... Would love any tips/things to watch out for if you've noticed anything!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
