A Fairytale Wedding at Riu Ocho Rios Jamaica

Recommended Posts

I arranged the horse with the guys across the street from the Riu - you have exit the resort and the horses are to the left directly across the street. The guys were super sweet - they bathed the horse, groomed her, and braided her mane for the wedding day. Her name was Angel :) My wedding was at 4:00 and Angel arrived at about 5:00 - we had photographs for about half an hour with her.

My dress is actually fine from the TTD session - It is covered in thousands and thousands of little beads and they all stayed on! The dress just gets wet so it's not really "trashed". Once I get it dry cleaned it will be like brand new! wink.gif

Beautiful pictures! Congrats!

A couple of questions:

1. What package did you buy?

2. Did you find the music/entertainment from the entertainment stage "too much" while you were having your reception below at the Seagrape?

3. What did you ceremony decorations look like? And the Seagrape ones? Did you pay extra (i.e. if you had the free package) or were they included (did you have a "paying" package)

4. You didn't say anything about your cake, how was it?

So happy for you!

Personally, I LOVE how the sky looks when it's clearing after rain.. I hope I have clouds in the sky on my wedding day (kinda sorta wink.gif )

Nscaper:

1. We got the free package and then just added on - I ordered all flowers and was invoiced by Tai Flora before we left for Jamaica

2. The entertainment from above didn't bother us at all at the Sea Grape - we had microphones for the speeches and I didn't hear any background music while the speeches were going on or while the DJ was playing. There were a few onlookers from above but I actually didn't even notice them (being so caught up in the moment I guess wink.gif) - I was told about them later - so no worries at all!

3. For the ceremony decorations I purchased an aisle runner, 5 bags of rose petals, 2 floral arangements for in front of the gazebo, and I got the chair covers with chocolate brown ribbon. The floral arangements were used at the dinner and at the Sea Grape and the chair covers were used at dinner. They decorated the tables at the Sea Grape with white table cloths and candles. I did bring a lot of my own decorations - sea shells, starfish plates, a ceremony sign, place cards and sea shell place card holders, signature platter, party favours, etc........

4. The cake was great - It was much better than I expected and it actually tasted good!! It toppled over by the end of the night - likely from the heat!! wink.gif

Hope this helps - let me know if you have any more questions!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
