Excellence Punta Cana Brides Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone:) Thanks for all the congrats. We got married on the beach and had the cocktail hour on the beach, there is a little beach bar that we used. We had tiki torches set up all around and the mariachi trio played for that part. The the reception was down at the cascade pool. It was really awesome, very private. We had about 40 people total, so it was the perfect size for our group. The rooms were nice, we got upgraded to the excellence club, though we honestly didn't spend too much time in our rooms.

Overall, I don't think there was anything I would have changed. Lisbeth made everything really easy and took care of everything. It was an amazing trip and wedding. All our guests loved the wedding.

Theresa,

Congrats!!! We are getting married at EPC on November 27, 2009 and we are planning to do the same as you with beach ceremony, beach cocktail, and cascade pool reception. I have a few questions if you don't mind.

-Did you hire the DJ for the reception? How were they?

-Do you have a picture of how the tables were set up around the pool?

-Did you do a legal ceremony or spiritual? If you did spiritual was the person over seeing the ceremony a judge or religous leader?

-Did you ship items for the wedding down (gifts etc.) or did you bring them with you?

I'm sure I'll think of other questions. Thanks for taking the time to help us!!!

Debbie

Hi ladies! So glad to see more EPC brides on here...

Theresa, sounds like you and your guests had a great time @ your wedding! We are also booked for an excellence club room...can't wait to see your pictures!!

Did you have a legal ceremony? For those brides that went the civil ceremony (legal) route, what process did you follow? I'm still a tad confused as to how long before the wedding date we would have to start the legalization/translation process? The WC said the documents should be issued no more than 30 days prior to the wedding date. So, how long before did you start the process?

Hey Boston bride...congrats to you on your upcoming wedding! Do not mail anything to Dominican Republic. They do not get their mail for a long time if at all. I was warned by friends who have lived there and Ana, the wedding planner.

For Blushing bride, if you use a company such as WEDO, I think you can send your stuff anytime and they handle it to make sure it is issued properly. I'm going to send mine to Isabel at Wedo next week. Hey you're from the Bronx. I'm from Bklyn, but moved to queens a few years ago! Congrats!! =)

Boston Bride, congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Hi Dolcenotte! Congrats to you as well. Are you located past Flushing? I actually lived in Qns (Astoria) up until January of this year. :) Thanks for the info. I emailed Isabel on Sunday and recv'd a quick response from her yesterday. She advised that I submit paperwork to her anywhere from 90 - 30 days before our wedding so I still have a year to go.

Hello EPC brides!

I'm Erin and from San Antonio, TX and I will be getting married on June 10th 2009. We were trying to decide b/w Excellence and Paradisus and the whole adults only thing is really what sold us.

I do have one concern about the wedding at Excellence. I emailed the wedding coordinator to ask if there was anything that we could be doing or needed to talk about. This was about a month ago. She told me no and said that she would be in touch with me when the time got closer to our date. Well the wedding is just over 2 months away and we haven't even discussed one thing! Is this normal? For those of you who have plans underway already, when is your wedding and how soon did you start discussing those decisions with the WC? I'm just starting to get a little concerned.

Hope all of you are enjoying your planning. I'm in planning mode for the at home reception in Illinois (my home state) and my mother is stressing me out. :) I'm sure many of you can relate!!

All the best!

Hi Erin and congrats on your upcoming wedding! Excellence is an amazing place to get married (I've been there twice and seen many beautiful weddings, can't wait to be at my own!!) and from what people say Paradisus is just as beautiful!!

Who is your wedding coordinator at Excellence?

I work with Ana..I met her last July while I was there and have been talking to her through email ever since, sometimes several times a day/week and even on the phone once. They have been having problems with their internet/server recently so the last couple of months have been tough sometimes.

What I would do is type all the questions and email them to her so she can address your issues. How many people are you having? If you aren't having many people and aren't doing a cocktail hr or big reception, there is less planning involved! But still, you should have all your questions addressed. I would tell them you are trying to decide between the 2 resorts and communication before the big day is a very important factor in that decision.

That being said, the service at Excellence has been outstanding both times I've been there. There exists a level of service at Excellence that I doubt most places would offer. Good luck in your decision and let me know what happens!

Erin!

Thanks for joining the thread. I was worried for the same reason, and had been working is Lisbeth (not to diss on her, other people have had good experiences with her). After I went a while without my questions being answered, I emailed Ana directly upon Dolcenotta's suggestion. I've been working with Ana ever since, and she always answers ALL of my questions, usually by copying the email and then taking them one by one.

That being said, I'm getting married July 2, and haven't selected a venue yet. I have let them know what menu I want, but that can also be done on site. Something that IS important to do now is if you are planning any spa appointments for the day of the wedding to let them know now so they can schedule timeslots for you.

As a planner myself, it's been hard to just let things go until we get down there. If you want, I also have some pictures of bouquets and their pastry/cake power point you can take a look at as well.

Good luck, let us know if you have questions, and I'd email Ana directly at this point.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
