JW Marriott - A++

My wedding day went off without a hitch. The JW Marriott really got it all together. My wedding planner Francisco Roman was SO wonderful to deal with. As we all know the planning of a DW could be nerve wrecking without the right person to deal with, and Francisco couldn't have been more on point. He responded to my questions within a day with the answers I needed. He sent me plenty of pictures that I needed to make decisions. He also had emailed me a questionnaire that was perfect to really piece the event together to make sure we weren't missing anything. He really knows what he's doing. The JW never gave me headaches, never tried to overcharge me, and never said no to me. I would recommend this resort 100% in a heartbeat to have your DW.

Rehearsal - I stayed behind to go over the little details with Francisco and give him 3 luggage bags full of favors, programs, fans.. all the little stuff. I might've overwhelmed him but he put everything in it's place the day of exactly as I had asked. I knew I could count on him.

Ceremony - DH and I arrived at the Casamagna (where the ceremony was held) an hour early to take pics. That hour FLEW! I had to hide from my guests and sneak into an empty room as they were arriving at the hotel. I got to see them walking up the aisle from the window yet they didn't know I was watching. The music flowed perfectly. The wedding party walked up to Somewhere Over the Rainbow and me....... November Rain m/ It was a bit windy at the gazebo. During my sand ceremony, my sand blew all over the place sad.gif

Here's a bit of advice, I know Jean-Marcus has made a post about this in the past but I'll repeat it- 5pm is late to have a ceremony if you plan on taking pics AFTERWARDS. We rushed through pics with the Bridal Party and parents bc we were losing light. Jean-Marcus was so patient with me lol

Cocktail Hour - We had the cocktail hour at the Seaside Garden. It was a last minute decision due to the fact that I wanted the beach and it was torn apart. I'm so happy I chose this location. My guests had a great time walking around the resort which was so pretty all lit up at night. By the time we got there, cocktail hour was pretty much over but I still got to try a lil bit of everything. The food was SO good. We had a mariachi band playing for our guests which was a nice touch.

Reception - The best part :) We chose the Pool Bar to have the reception. The tables were set around the pool area also overlooking the water. It was a perfect setting. We chose to have a buffet with all Mexican food as well a fajita station. We figured it be a great way to have our guests try a little bit of everything since most have never traveled to Mexico. The food was out of this world. It was AMAZING. If my dress wasn't fitting so tight, I would've gone up for 3rd's wink.gif While everyone was eating, we surprised our guests with firedancers. No one was expecting it so it created a lot of OOOhs and AAAhhs. The performers put on a 20 minute show. They are so talented - They put on an awesome show! Our guests danced the night away and this --> shots.gif hahaha Francisco was always hiding in the wings making sure I was ok. He was wonderful!

If anyone has questions, post in this thread. I haven't seen too many JW Marriott threads around so I want to answer any questions brides may have.

I'm so glad this part of your trip (the most important LOL) went so great! Francisco sounds amazing, I love that he was "hiding in the wings" the whole time! And that is great you got firedancers - I'm sure your guests loved that....did JM get any pics of them? I'm glad your wedding day went so well!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
