When on a cruise & leaving the ship for a tour, what do you do with your passport?

I leave my passport in the ship safe but put a photo copy of my passport and my fiance's in my purse when going ashore (just in case we miss the boat).

We always took our passports with us everywhere whether we are on a cruise or any vacation, but we got one of those small waterproof cases so that if we get wet, the passports, our cc's, and money stayed dry. FH has swimtrunks that have zippered pockets so he always put the case in there. Worked great!
