Tensing Pen and Sunset at the Palms

Recommended Posts

Hi! -

I would love to have a wedding ceremony at Tensing Pen but my wedding coordinator has not been able to get a hold of anyone over there. I am heart broken as I think its a gorgeous resort. Does anyone have had experience dealing with themhuh.gif

Also, I'm thinking of having maybe the reception (wedding at Tensing Pen) or maybe both the ceremony and the reception at Sunset at the Palms however, I have not found any reviews on this site about brides getting married there. I would love to hear feedback on this resort. It looks so cute and romantic.

hi biviana,

I, too, am thinking about Tensing Pen. I have done some initial research on various websites & have generally heard that they are pretty difficult to get in touch with. One person told me they had to have their travel agent in Jamaica contact the hotel to get their calls returned.

I still haven't decided if that is the locale for me, but know that if you do go with TP the communication apparently doesn't get any better until about a month before the wedding. However, I have heard that once you get there it is SUPERB service & an amazing site. Definitely something to be aware of as you decide! If you can handle the lack of initial communication then you'll be fine...I have yet to decide if I can handle that! (I'm ridiculously Type A).

Please keep me posted on anything you find out about them though! I'm trying to feel out flower, decor, photography & entertainment prices myself...

Hi Biiviana,

I am a Sunset at the Palms bride! I am getting married there in August. The reason I chose that resort out of all of the places I looked at is because I was able to talk to the wedding coordinator every time I called. When I emailed her for info, even before I booked she wrote me back with the answers to my many trivial questions. I did not get the same response from many of the other resorts I looked into. ( Coco LaPalm had a quick response time too. I just liked SATP better between those two.

I have been in contact with several SATP brides ( if you pm me I can give you their info) and have heard nothing but good things. If you go on the trip advisor website and look at the negril forum you can get lots of info on all of the resorts.

Good luck in finding your perfect resort! I know you will find the right one for you. Happy plannng...

I believe trip advisor has good reviews on both locations. I am thinking about having a welcome dinner at Tensing Pen. I think both places are very nice but they didn't offer something I was looking for when I was trying to narrow down my choices. What people have to understand about Island people is that they are much more laid back so that's why people get the delayed responses. I have already prepared myself for that happening to me so I'm going to tyr not to stress. I have heard that when it gets closer to your date you get all the attention you need, when you get there they take care of everything and you day turns out perfect. If you can handle it hang in there because they are both very nice locations.

I dont know about the Tensing Pen but tripadvisor has some GREAT reviews on Sunset at the Palms. That was my number one choice for a long time and we almost booked but my fiance talked me out of it due to the fact that alot of our family is coming and they all have young children (all under cool.gif. So now we are back at square one trying to find a new resort. Good luck though, if you just type in wedding and sunset at the palms in the search box on tripadvisor they should show up! There are also afew pictures on there that some brides have posted, very beautiful!

Thanks everyone for your response. I was able to call Tensing Pen today and they informed me that you have to reserve the whole resort?? Also, they told me that for the day that I want they can have the ceremony but that there are only two rooms available so I can't have it on that day. I was devastated. I think the same thing goes for the Rock House. sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
