Sunquest - Free stuff?

Recommended Posts

My TA has given us the rates for Nov-Dec 2009 and it's about $1460/pp with taxes all in...if we want the group rates, it's free for every 17th person and minimum number of rooms you have to book is 5. She said they had just closed the deal on these rates for the 2009-2010 season with Sunquest and it was just to give us an idea of what the rates are like during that time of the year. However, the winter season for 2010-2011 will not be published or confirmed until Jan 2010 so we were thinking of waiting it out until then before we book....Nov 2010 is too far away!!

Marie, thanks for all the info...but 1900 is a bit too much for our guests, who we're hoping to only have to fork out about 14-1500 at most...but I guess it's all dependent on the time you're going, right? I don't think Nov is too busy, it's just after the hurricane season ends (I hope!!) so we're hoping the rates are about that price range.

From what I understand......the rates quoted now are the most you would pay, if they go lower then you can pay the $100 cancellation fee and rebook - something like that. I know that's what is was for Signature, can't remember the details for Sunquest.

What pisses me off, is that for some of the hotels you get nothing! We were between the RIU Club Negril & the RIU Palace Tropical Bay (more money), and in the end we went with RPTB - but none of the Sunquest deals go with it?! Go figure, I'm spending more money and there are less incentives!!!

The Club Negril would have been every 22 adults........I hope only 21 book! LOL Then I won't feel like we missed out! :)

I would really search for TAs, we get an $800 luggage set, wedding inserts (invites), luggage tags, and Thank Yous.

  • 8 months later...

Im so confused about this free person bit lol.

We have 32 people booked since March 2009 for our May 210 wedding, including myself and my fiance. I have the number 16 written down everywhere....I always thought it meant the 16th person goes free, in whch case he and I will go for free....but now Im reading you have to have 16 booked...meaning the 17th goes for free. (With sunquest of course)Ill be so let down if we miss the trip by one person...

Then the summer I learned they had a promo out where every 8th went for free.....imagine that! lol...

Ang - we didn't get the free sunquest stuff until about a month before the wedding & had no idea we were even getting it! So they may still have that promotion on!

Marie - we had free passes as well, but ours was every 21st. So...20 people book & the 21st to book was free. Then 20 more people book (so 41 total) and the 42nd person to book was free. I think in your case, you will be missing the trip by 2 people...but yes, definitely sucks! But at least you guys won't have to pay the full amount for both of you!

The free luggage is the gift...or you can take a $200 gift card that is good for about a gazillion stores! Personally we didn't find out about the free stuff until a few weeks before we left, so we probably wouldn't have gotten the luggage in time if we wanted it.

Since when is RIU MB sunwing?? RIU has been exclusive to Sunquest for ages! wow.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
