We have been back and forth over this one too, and are now probably going with the I-Pod or the computer idea. We are curious how to fade the songs on the I-Pod though, still have to look into that. As for the speeches and announcements, we are doing what others have mentioned, just giving the job to someone to get everyones attention and announce. We think our numbers are going to be smaller anyway, so it shouldn't be too tricky hopefully! This way we save some money that can go toward other things in the budget.

We are going to have an iPod, I haven't heard great reviews from hotel allowed DJ's and I can't afford to get one and pay for their trip.

I have already assigned my most entertaining groomsmen to be MC and I will have another friend man the iPod which is easy because I will put together playlists. It just ensures all my songs get played and we all love the music. I've also heard a lot of the mexican DJ's don't speak great english so I'd be careful on who you hire.

I also have a music suggestion page on my website to get peoples suggestions on what they want to hear with a prize to the best song so that would be too difficult with a DJ

I have seen the iPod work well and I've seen it go horribly wrong, so it all depends on your game plan.

My MOH's wedding used an iPod that she had pre set play lists for, and she had all of the groomsmen and bridesmaids act as emcees for different parts. Her little brother was put in charge of making sure that the music was playing at all times and that the special songs were queued up correctly.

FI's friend's wedding used an iPod and had one of the groomsmen in charge of it. He ended up playing songs that no one wanted to hear and that no one can dance to. And then he repeated the horrible songs. In my opinion, he almost ruined the wedding.

If you use an iPod, just make sure you pick out what you want played and you have someone trustworthy in charge of it.

We have a friend who is a DJ so we offered to fly her down and pay for her room if she'd DJ at our wedding. I'm kind of happy to not have to worry about the playlist.

But I went to a destination wedding last year and they used an ipod and it was so fun! They had a great playlist so no one even noticed where the music was coming from.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
