Anyone NOT making welcome bags??

Recommended Posts

We are not making welcome bags because we have about 70 people and it would be impossible to get them to Mexico. We did get personalized travel mugs that we will hand out before hand with a welcome letter!

Won't the bags either (never heard of them til this website) but will do insulated mugs (hand out prior).  I know it's a lovely thought and but really, won't guests will bring their own sunblock, bugspray, etc right?  And I don't have room to pack it (and from people who have been to DW, they never got them and never missed them and never heard of them.  THose doign them, kudos to you... I am sure your guests will think it's quite special!

Oh, and we will do up gift bags for the kids coming to the wedding though - something to keep them amused (11 kids).

I am making welcome bags for all of our guests as it was in our budget.  However if it was not in our budget I would have just done a welcome letter and a nice favor and maybe a basket as another bride had suggest in another thread.

I feel if it is not in your budget you shouldn't do especially if you have some other must haves that you prefer your money to go to instead.   But if you still feel you want to do something you can always do 2 baskets (1 for women & 1 men) and place them either in the bathroom where the reception will be held or at a small table outside or near the bathroom.  You can bring the baskets to your room or let your MOH take point on it.  The baskets are great as they can be done on a budget and you are giving that extra touch for just 15 to 20 dollars.

just a thought : )

I never knew what an OOT bag was until I joined this forum.  My FI told me that there was no reason to do them but the way I feel is that everyone is travelling and spending so much money to come to our wedding it's the least we could do. I know they wouldn't come if they couldnt afford it but its a nice gesture.

My OOT bags are going to be 1 per room with a few extras if there are kids.  I still have just over a year until my wedding and I have already started my OOT bags with items that do not have an expiry date.

I think if I didnt have over a year to go I wouldn't be doing them but with so much time ahead of me it's okay.  I think each of our OOT bags are only going to be around the $10 mark with most items being purchased at the dollar store.  The only exception are the mugs which will be our big purchase for the OOT bags.

We're doing OOT bags as well...I'm already gathering non-persishable items now from the dollar aisle. At least that way it won't seem like so much...but we're only only having 15-20 people so it's do-able and we like others are doing one bag per room and special bags for our "little guest"!  It's something we wanted to do well at least me...But in no way is is mandatory but just a nice gesture to your guest who have travelled so far!

We are planning to do just a thank you bag. All our guests are paying their own way, so we want to show our appreciation for them attending and spending the money to come. I plan to just get a regular gift bag possibly, attach a label to them with the name of the guest or couple, and add just a few items inside like sunscreen, a bag of Jamaican coffee, Jerk Seasoning, and a couple other small items. We will also likely do a welcome letter - which we will just make at home too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
