Concerned about Beaches....

Recommended Posts

I am nervous about booking.... I had narrowed down my choices to three different resorts, the starfish trelawny, and then the two beaches resorts in Negril, leaning towards Beaches Negril out of all three. We were leaning towards that one b/c of the Seasame Street characters and large waterpark as we have alot of guests with younger children(8 and under). I also really liked some of the wedding packages they have available.

Now here is my problem. I have heard afew rumors running around that as of November 09 the Beaches Negril resort will stop being a Beaches resort and is turning into a Breezes resort.

I just was wondering if anyone else had heard any information about thishuh.gif

Also, has anyone done a wedding at Beaches Sandy Bay and how did you liked the resort and everything?

Thanks Alot!!

Oooooouuuu I have heard nothing about Beaches Negril turning into a Breezes..That would be a HUGE shock if they sold off Negril though I will say as being a Beaches Negril bride and having my guests at Negril, Sandy Bay, and Sandals Negril .. Beaches Negril sells out alot more so than Sandy Bay.. Negril is also alot larger than Sandy Bay all around, plus Sandy Bay does not have a spa or rec facilities .. they use Negril with a shuttle service going back and forth. Our guests actually wished they paid more to just stay at Negril but it was sold out the week I got married and they could not transfer even for a few days. I guess I am going to look into this now because we thought of going back...

Actually you probably heard about Grand Lido Negril turning into Breezes this coming fall- they are rebranding all of their Grand Lido properties into Breezes- not sure if they are keeping them adult only or allowing kids.

If any of the Beaches properties would be turned it would most likely be Sandy Bay as sandals does not actually own the property-leases it.

Ok "PHEW"....I was really worried about that. I also saw that the Starfish Trelawny is supposed to turn into a Breezes!! I just read that online the other day and some of my family was disappointed as they had stayed there before and had wanted to go back when we went for the wedding.

We are still having such problems finalizing where we want to go, but now that I know that Beaches Negirl ISN'T turning into a Breezes I feel abit better (as it was one of our top 3). Thanks alot for the info Jennifer!!

  • 3 weeks later...

I am having my wedding at Beaches Negril September 30, 2009. I have to say that the resort not only looks beautiful, but that the staff has been amazing so far. They answered any & all questions before we even booked rooms. Once we booked our room a wedding coordinator in the US (Amber) called me to verify our travel dates and to go over the legal requirements. She also email me a wedding kit, pictures of different bands, a list of music to play during the ceremony & walked me through every step. I chose the Caribbean Sunset Preston Bailey package and am so excited! I am very happy with the level of customer service I have received. I checked out both Sandy Bay & Negril on trip advisor & decided that Negril had exactly what we were looking for.

Good Luck! The hardest part was picking a location!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
