Can anyone that has physically seen these locations shed some light? We are expecting approx 50 guests. Also if I was to choose to have the cermemony at the aqueduct and pay the $2500 fee how many hours is the rental for? Would our reception be there also? any help would be great. What is everyone else choosing for their reception menu? I am thinking about going with the food stations but not sure yet.
terri1225 - I was originally considering the pool deck, after seeing it. I chose the other wedding Gazebo, it's a bit more private. I was mostly worried about noise from below the deck (it's over the buffet restaurant). The water park is really beautiful and private as well. I'm not sure about the aqueduct, though I do remember that there is no electricity there, and I didn't pick it due to my need to dance!
as for menu I went with stations with a couple appetizers, salad and consumption bar. Though, honestly i'm only saving a dollar or so per person over the welcome receptions...so now I may change that.
Good Luck!

Terri1225: I've visited the resort and agree with Tauristar. If you want an outside location for your reception, the East Gazebo is the best choice, it's beautiful and provides the most privacy (that you can get outside at a popular resort). That's actually where I'm having my ceremony.

To everyone: I was initially planning a reception for about 70 people in one of the ballrooms and was so frustrated at the cost of everything. I don't mind paying the money but I didn't feel like I was getting much for it, it seems like it was all going to fees and taxes. So I've decided to go another route. I'm now working with Jamaica Elegant Weddings (Dawn) to plan my cocktail hour and reception off site. So far my experience has been wonderful. I was able to do with Dawn in 2 weeks what I have not been able to accomplish with RHR in months. The personal attention is wonderful and the prices are so much better (ie: I went from $900 for 3 hours of DJ time to $550 for 5 hours of DJ time). I can go on and on and I'll tell you more if you're interested. My point is, if you're happy and things are working out at RHR stick with them, but if you're in need of another option, I highly recommend Jamaica Elegant Weddings.

Mrs Reed 2 be-Please go on. I am really not pleased with the money that has to be spent to rent out locations for the reception plus all the added overpriced items such as $700 for the steel pan band for an hour. I actually contacted Tropical Weddings Jamaica regarding off site options. Please tell me as much as possible about Jamaica Elegant Weddings. Where is your cocktail hour and reception going to held and approx how much are your costs going to be?

I would also love to hear some more info about Jamaica Elegant Weddings. Do you know any of their packages prices? Do they charge a fee for their services in addition to the package prices? I'm just trying to figure out if its worth the cost to hire a WC outside of one that a resort might offer. Do you know what locations they offer for receptions? Thanks for any info you can share!! :)

Hey everyone... long time, no talk on here! I did want to shed some insight.

@MrsReed 2 b- I'm glad you were able to find a place off site for you and your guests. I told Yolandi I was having my reception off site too and she asked me where. I don't really think that matters. What matters is making their prices more reasonable so people don't have to look elsewhere, lol.

@tauristar- I also got a quote from Grande Garden. I think I might be going with them since they're less expensive than Tai Flora.

@Everyone: I believe the best advice I could give brides thinking of planning a wedding at RHR would be to be EXTREMELY specific when asking questions. Make sure you know about site fees, set up fees (yes, they're two different things), bar fees, everything!

Don't assume that just because a reception site is on the property, that it's free to hold the reception there. I believe Sugar Mill Fall (the waterpark) is like $2500 for a set up fee. That's not including the cost for a bar, service, etc. Make sure you ask prices for everything.

I just asked about having speakers for the ceremony and was told it's like $193 plus a technician fee... Technician fee? You mean there's a cost to literally plug the speakers in?? Like I said, question everything!

terr1225 - I emailed you the two pics I could find. I hope that helps

pandabride6 - I'm doing the PA system and speakers, and I didn't have a technician fee...I'll let you know if that comes up for me...no way I'm paying for that!

I'd love to hear more about Jamaica Elegant weddings, I'm looking for a place to do a rehearsal dinner. Oh and I've been working with Grande Garden on flowers all week, they are really easy to deal with.

Tauristar thanks for the pics. We had chosen the West Gazebo, have you seen that location? if so what do you think of it? As for the rehersal dinner,we decided to do it off the resort also...We will be doing a sunset catamaran cruise.

I am getting married there on May 8th of this year and just signed my contract a few weeks ago. I too got the PA system with speakers and had to pay a technician fee of $50...I believe the technician will be the one to start and stop the music when needed during the ceremony. We chose the West Gazebo to have our ceremony because of the privacy and it overlooking the ocean. We are also having a cocktail reception in the same location. It actually saved a little bit of money, since all we had to pay was a set up fee of $500 instead of having to pay more to choose a separate location for the reception. If you have any questions you would like to ask me, I will be more than happy to assist with anything I know. Good luck to all you ladies with the planning and Congratulations!

    • I admire brave brides. I'm generally afraid of a wedding. Breaking outdated rules is cool. You're good😇
    • My wedding date is set for the next April. The ceremony will be held on the beach too. I chose a dress style but not sure about the accessories like a crown and the need for a warm cape. The open back wedding dresses https://www.cathytelle.com/category/wedding-dresses/?filter_back=open&query_type_back=or  help me to choose, please! I like the third dress just with the location on the beach, like I'm dreaming about. In case of bad weather, I need to pick up a cape, so where can I find it? Only a new thing will fit, cause my grany is very superstitious (( I will be grateful for the web-addresses of jewelry shop with good reputation
    • Hello, I'm looking to have feedback about decorations for your wedding at Barcelo Maya Palace. We are getting married in Dec 2020, and I tried to get info from WC for what it's included as decoration for mint breeze or Straberry Package. It seems to be normal to pay extra for everything, but before to go further, i would like to now what basically come included?? I'm looking to know what is included for table decorations (center, if it's looking the same on when you go at a restaurant a la carte, table sheet white or colored), huppa for beach wedding (white or color), deco for chair, etc? Did you had to pay an extra to bring your own decorations? Did you pay an extra to have your reception in a beach restaurant? And what about a beach reception? Are the lights are included ?your help will be really appreciated!    Thank you
    • If you use the search function for those locations you may better be able to find something. What exactly are you looking for? Recs on photographers?
    • Hello wedding review perusers, If you are considering Romantic Planet Vacations as your wedding planner/coordinator... Stop turn around and RUN!!! We got married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico on July 9th 2019 and had the worst experience dealing with this company.    We had Vanessa and she was terrible with her customer service edicate.  There were several times when she was unresponsive and unavailable without any prior notice. We had several emails excusing herself for her absence.     First off, this company works on commissions from the vendors so they are not really working for you but to set up weddings that will profit them the most. Because of this, our entire experience dealing with the hotel and reception staff regarding anything room related was awful. Their continued response was you didn’t pay us any money so any and all changes have to be made by them (which ALWAYS INCURRED ADDITIONAL FEES). And guess what Vanessa was not helpful and unresponsive.    The $1000 Air flight credit is a SCAM. Thats incorrect for me to say. What I should say is please make sure you read all of the fine print very, very carefully. They will do everything in their power to not give you all the necessary details until they are no longer responsible for giving you the flight credit. Vanessa was going to set up the return flight for the credit but she stopped returning phone calls and emails so how were we supposed to book it without a person to book it with.    In short, Vanessa said she was going to take care of a lot of things that she didn’t. She would not respond to our phone calls and the hotels phone calls when situations came up during our wedding stay, leaving us to deal with the hotel. We contacted their management and to see if they would want to rectify anything before posting our negative reviews and to put it bluntly they could give 2 Sh***.   It is very difficult to express how terrible the experience was in a short review without seeming petty. I am giving our wedding email in hopes that any person that wants a better picture of what our experience was can email us and we are more than happy to share any of the correspondences between us. To help us filter through the Spam all email should contain the following subject line: Please helps with your experience!!!   Thank you Oliver And Claudia  Oliver.and.Claudia2003@gmail.com
