What do you think of this idea? Use fake flowers as a placecard?

Recommended Posts

I don't want to, or have time to, make fancy placecards, and I also don't want to worry about transporting bulky items. What do you think of doing something like this, and just tying a tag w/names on each stem? I just saw this first - it may not be this exact flower, but something similar. Be honest!

It's very very pretty...but do you think that because people will actually be able to touch them and see them up close that it's weird they are fake? It's one thing to have fake flowers in a centerpiece that look real because nobody touches a centerpiece, but I dunno...I guess you'd also have to figure out just how much room they would take up if you don't want to squish them. But I love the color!!

I think they would be very bulky but I think overall the idea is a good one. I'm not 100% sold ont he fake flowers because I do agree with Janet that I think fake flowers are best used when people can't tell they're fake.

We are actually doing a very similar idea except we are using small palm fans - with placecards, gerber daisy sticker and ribbon from Michaels.

It's a good idea for sure, but I'd have to agree about the fake flowers up close. There is just something about being surrounded by such beautiful scenery, and then to be seated with fake flowers - most often it's easy to tell, especially when so close to them.

I thought about putting a fake flower at each place setting (in a napkin fold), but decided against it because they look obviously fake when you can see the wire through the stem. I also tried to wrap each stem with floral tape, but that looked worse.

One idea I saw somewhere was drink umbrellas used as placecards...it was really cute. I can't remember if the names and tables were written directly on the umbrella or if there was a little sticker tag on the toothpick part...but, they were really cute.

Ann, this is what I'm doing for our welcome dinner. It was super easy and I got them from Ebay for $4.00. I just printed them on a big sticker page that was white ( from staples) and cut them out and put them around the toothpicks! Then all you need is some sand in a container to stick them into! I'm going to ask mariana if she has some foam board that she could put down first then sand on top so they will stick better!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
