Help me with a location please!!!!

Recommended Posts

Also, when I did find a travel agent, He immediately sent me information on wedding pakages from other resorts. I would try to find a TA to send you the info, and go over each one based on your needs. Prices of your guests booking are also a big factor.

When we first started planning our wedding we also researched all of the different resorts in the DR. We decided to go with the Dreams Punta Cana resort because it was the most affordable. The wedding packages are very reasonable as well as the guest prices. Our wedding is coming up in June and we are expecting about 40 guests.

Thanks for all the info ladies.

Since I wrote that post, I has switched location focus to Riviera Maya based on affordabiltiy. Well, I went to visit some of my top choices and I was not please.shots.gif So now it is back to the drawing board.

I have had tons of potential guests ask about the DR, so here I am again. Revisitng the place where I started.

I still think that the wedding packages for the Paradisius are very high. However, I want to be sure that I am staying in a resort that I really like. So, I guess it is a tradeoff of what is more important.

I know I can tend to be very picky and so is my FI, so this has been extremely hard because we want to be somewhere where they keep up the actual room and the rest of the resort and not just the landscaping to make it look nice.

I know sometimes the cheese stands alone...and sometimes I feel like I am by myself because of how we are looking for a location.

Oh well, hopefully I will find somewhere in the DR and be able to squeeze in a trip to check it out.

Thanks for listening.

Taxchick,
I am getting married at the Paradisus Palma Real. I had the same concerns as you did about the price but the hotel is just so beautiful and I want everything to be perfect so we are going for it! They take such good care of you there and are so responsive and will cater to whatever you want unlike some of the other resorts where you have to pick from their set options.

As for the price, we are giving our guests the option of staying at the PPR or the NH which is right next door. The NH was just redone and it is beautiful as well as much more affordable. I think the rate in March for 3 nights double occupancy is like $540.

We are going to have to pay for a day pass the day of our wedding for the guests to come over to the PPR but the beaches are public and no one is really going to stop you if you go back and forth between the hotels. They are also so close to each other.

Most of the guests that are staying at the NH are our friends and my fiance and I are actually staying there a few nights before the wedding so that we can spend some time at the same hotel as them since that is why they are coming down to see us!!!

Let me know what you decide and if you have any questions.

I am having the same problem. The Paradisus properties are expensive. I've got some rates for the majestic colonial, around 2100.00, and the melia is nearly as much. I'm also looking at the Bavaro Princess and the Oceans Blue by H10 seems a little better priced. I am having a hard time making a decision since money is a factor.

I would tell you to read some of the reviews from other girls about their wedding. I know DaniellenDereck wrote update a nice long one on Palma Real. Which pushed me over to pick it. You have to weigh everything. I have people who wont want to leave resort, so I look at the resort that had the most to do at it. It has sooooo many free things to do horse backriding and stuff like that. I knew looking at it that it was a little more, but I was okay with that because of what my Guest were getting and bc of what I want. I would make a list in order of what you really want and go from there. We are only have about 20 to 30 at most people there. And the one I really had to have to there are my mom and dad and brothers and my Best friend and the same for FI. I really would read the review daniellendereck wrote it will answer most questions either way. Hope all of that helps

Jennifer

  • 3 months later...

I have been looking for a resort for months. 3 travel agents later I'm hoping to just pick one because I'm so frustrated! I'm looking for a place that has a free basic pkg. if you book 5 or more rooms or some sort of deal like that! I'm looking into the Dominican or Mexico around $2000 or below. Does anyone have any suggestions of great places to go? A lot of the above posts helped!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
