Did anyone get married 2 years after proposal???

Recommended Posts

I got engaged last May and we are waiting until September 2010 to get married. Everyone is asking us why are you waiting so long? We are waiting because my cousins are getting married on crusies this year. It would be too much to ask my family for a third wedding. We are already spending an arm and a leg for the two cruises for my cousins.

What do you think??

I think it's totally up to you! After all, you are the one getting married!

I got engaged in July of 2008 and we are waiting till July 2010 to get married. I always said I wouldn't want a long engagement but we purchased a brand new home 6 months before getting engaged, and we also have friends getting married in Jamaica this coming July. So we figured we'd get settled in our house, enjoy our friend's wedding, and take our sweet ass time planning our own wedding!!!!

You shouldn't have to justify your choice...it's yours to make!

Good luck!

We got engaged June 10, 2007 (my bday) and will be getting married May 24, 2009. At first it was kind of annoying having to say we're getting married in 2009, but then when it was 2008 we could say "next year" and now we can just say "May 24th"!

All in all, I've really enjoyed having a long engagement. :)

Almost, we got engaged June 2005 and married May 2007. It just wouldn't have worked if we'd tried to get married sooner. I was still in school and didn't graduate until June 2006. While I know it can be done, I didn't want to be worrying about assignments and wedding planning at the same time. I did some random idea searching for the first year but we didn't really start planning until about a year before the wedding.

I think you're doing the best thing for you and it's a shame people can't respect that. Lots of people wait to get married, so you shouldn't worry.

We got engaged in June of 2008 and are getting married in Oct of 2010, so more than 2 years. I know what you mean, when people ask when the wedding is and you say Oct 2010 they look at you really weird. But my FI is away at school until June 2010 so we wanted to wait until he was finished and when we were back settled into our lives again! I just didn't want to get married and then live apart our first year of marriage!

At least now that it is 2009, if you say 2010 it doesn't sound so far away!

We have been together for 16 years... He was my first everything. We starting dating at 16. When I was 25, I left him because he wanted to get married and I was not ready. After about a year, I could not live without him. We got back together and then he was always scared to ask me becuase he thought I was going to tell him no again. So he finally asked again and of course, I am definitely ready.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
