Umm ok Kelly, that pretty much convinced me right there!

But is it awkward to just do a very selective dance? I mean, so I dance with daddy dearest, and maybe with Aaron (although that will take A LOT of convincing) and then that's it? Is that weird? Not many people in our family will dance, but some might. I don't want to put a cap on the fun if people do end up dancing, but I don't want it to be boring either! Should I still schedule some kind of entertainment (like how Linsday - Feb14Bride - had a fire dancer)?? I (a) don't want people to think they can't dance if they don't want to or (B) feel so bored because there is nothing else but dancing planned for a pretty low-key group!

I dont think there is anything wrong with just a few dances. Ive read many times about people doing the first dance and then off to the reception. I really think you should dance with your dad though. It will really mean so much to him and Im sure it will mean a lot to you as well.

I cant dance worth anything either but you just have to slow dance. Not too much involoved there! Aaron will probablly be happy if you make him do it....in the long run. LOL

OK, what if you play the slideshow... to the song your dad picked out. And then while it's playing you ask your dad to dance with you. People will be focusing on the loving moment of you two and then your dancing... but because there isn't a slide show for everyone, nobody will think that dancing is to be continued.

Maybe that just makes sense in my own head. Sorry.

Courtney~

The great thing about a dw is that anything goes. One of the reasons most of us are doing a dw wedding is so we can have the wedding that we dream of without judgement from others. We are able to forgo any of the bs rules that goes along with a traditional wedding. I don't think any one will think it odd that you dance with only your dad. I will assume that if your guests have travelled that far to be with you and Aaron that they must know you well, and know Aaron is not comfortable dancing, therefore they will not be surprised when the two of you don't dance. (if you can convince him, that would be a bonus)

Why don't you have Aaron walk you to the dance floor, place your hand in your dads, you then dance with your dad. Your dad can walk you back to Aaron, kiss you and put your hand back in Aarons. Aaron then can make a toast to his beautiful bride, thank your guests for being there with you, and then proceed to dinner.

Oh yeah Coutney, I am glad I convinced you!

Regrets come with missed oppurtunities, there are no do overs in life. You will never regret doing the things that put a smile on someones face, or a chance to show your love for others, how could that ever feel awkward. Embrace the moment, it always passes way to quickly.

Ok, that is so perfect - I get goosebumps when I think of it! That's an AWESOME idea. It's like - my dad gives me away at the ceremony, and Aaron ... well not gives me back lol, that doesn't sound very good but you get the point! Love it!

No, no - that makes sense! I thought of that for my dance w/Aaron and might use that since for sure all eyes will be on us! I think Aaron is more nervous about the dancing than I am.. I suck too, but I can handle the slow dancing.

I think that's a great idea! That way the photog can get some great dancing pics but the guests will be able to divide their attention between you guys and the slide show. Honestly, I think the first dance is cute and all, but unless the people are doing something really interesting (laughing, crying etc.) then I'm usually bored about 60 seconds into it!

. . .does that make me a bad person?! Lol!

...yes, yes it does!

lol, just kidding. I'm the same way. I'm all happy and smiling when they walk up, and they start dancing and I get bored too! lol

I'm glad you decided to dance with your dad! It means so much to him (as it seems to mean to so many dads). In fact a few months ago my dad was watching that hilarious movie "Father of the Bride" and there's this heartbreaking scene at the end when Steve Martin realizes that he hasn't danced with his daughter yet and she's about to leave and he's like going through the kitchen and everything is getting in his way and just as he gets there she gets in the limo and drives off... my dad was all (teasing) "you're not going to do that to me are you?"
