Kristy, how was St. Lucia? I've been wanting to hear all about your wedding since I saw you were getting married there. It was our original destination, but we had to change because many of our guests couldn't make it. Its the next place I want to head on vacation I think.

Well I guess I can join this thread too! I have to admit, coming down off the "high" of planning our wedding has at times made me feel really sad! There are a few things I wish we had done differently, but our week in Cuba and our wedding day were fantastic.

Now real life is setting in. DH is a teacher and currently works outside of the city that we live in. He applied and interviewed in our city and elsewhere throughout the province and now we are waiting to hear back. It's been really tough on him working so far away from home (highway driving in the middle of winter in a sad ol' jeep takes its toll) and I think he needs a change. I myself would be happy leaving this city and being in a smaller town. Once we find out where he will be working next year, the next step is saving money for a house as we are renters currently. It sucks not paying toward anything (a mortgage) and I'd love to have our own house with a yard. And also I'm trying to convince DH that we need a honeymoon next summer (2010). Currently my thought is a backpacking trip through Europe as I've only been there once before and only for 3 weeks. We shall see. Everything costs money!

I thought I had posted in this thread some time ago, but I guess I am losing my mind now that I am married!

I LOVED planning our DW and wish we could do it all over again. I had so much fun with all the DIY stuff I learned about on here and wish I had had more time to perfect things, so I can't wait til I can plan another party!!!!

We have been TTC since the wedding ... and have moved on to fertility treatments.

We sold our house and close on it July 31, so we will be moving all next month and into early August.

DH is preparing to head back overseas (right now to Iraq) next year. He should head to Ft. Bliss for pre-deployment in April 2010 and then overseas in July 2010. He'll be gone for 14 months as it stands now.

So, between now and then, we are trying to make babies and will be getting settled in our new home (same area, just different neighborhood!).

Okay so I was a tad slow checking in. Since the wedding the downclimb was fast! Demanding jobs and a little one keeps us on our toes and constantly busy! We are planning to return to Jamaica for our 6-month anniversary so that is definitely exciting! One MAJOR Faux pas of mine is that I still have not sent out my thank you cards! What a procrastinator I am! But our son was pretty sick the last two months so it kept getting pushed aside. Otherwise life is swell! Best wishes to all the new MRS!

I'm so in love with St. Lucia, it's ridiculous! I just want to buy a villa and move down there. I cannot encourage you enough to go. And if you do go, don't just stay on the resort grounds. Get out and see the island. The people are so friendly and welcoming to tourists. We hired a taxi driver to give us a tour for the day (if you go, I can give you his info) and saw so many wonderful things. He took us to a restaurant for lunch that we never would've found. The food was delicious and super cheap. I'm so happy we chose to stay in villas instead of a resort because it made me explore the area. I can't wait to go back. Jet Blue is supposed to start flying there in October from New York for $99 one way! Much better than the $600 flights we had.

If I did my wedding all over ago, the location definitelty would've stayed the same. Great, now I want to go back right now!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
