Hi!

We're getting married and the Riu Palace in March 2010 and we got the following information in regard to policies at the resort:

SEMIPRIVATE EVENTS CAN NOT HAVE DJ INSIDE THE RESTAURANT this only can be

possible at private events. Because you are sharing the location with other people & this disturb their dinner. Terrace of the restaurant as private event only can be DJ package #1.

Now I'm worried because I think I read you need a certain amount of guests to be able to close down the restaurants for a private eventhuh.gif

Anyone else came across this issue??

Thanks! :)

My daughter is thinking about getting married at the Riu Palace in May 2010. She is wanting to have her wedding on the terrace for a few reasons: First, when we were at the riu Jalisco in Puerto Vallarta we made resevatioons at one of the restaurants for dinner and were very suprised to be seated in the full capacity restaurant next to a wedding party. It was hot, crowded and not at all special. the bride and her guests were pretty treated like the rest of the patrons no dance floor no Dj. Just a table that was decorated to looked like a wedding table. I have read the stipulations at the Riu that say no Dj's are permitted in the restaurant;only on the terrace. Hope this helps.

I read that last night. I am rather concerned because why do they have a package that includes dinner, but does not allow a DJ or anything? We are going down there next month to check things out. We might do the semi private dinner and then rent the disco from 8-11. At least that way for $500 extra you get open bar and a DJ.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
